For $12,995 you can have the kitchen with it - minus the sink, dishwasher, and Subzero.

A year ago I def would have taken it, but ive since bought a range.

The cabs, tho, they can keep. That kinda look gives distressing a bad name!

Ok, now I really feel like an idiot! Already have a Chambers (half the size, cost more after restoration), but would have LOVED that instead, mostly for the extra woodstove in winter!

I've found great deals online at Elite Appliance: www.eliteappliance.com They also just happen to have a showroom in Dallas that I was able to visit. So far so good on customer service, even though we haven't bought anything yet, I'm receiving multiple quotes on the kinds of items we are in the market for. The particular rep who was helping us asked us all the right questions, heard my questions and concerns, explained brands I wasn't familiar with, and tried to steer me in a general right direction for our wants and needs. Plus they offer all brands from high-end to not so and all the prices seem to be as reasonable as I can find. The showroom also had floor models and open box deals that were discounted even more. I too spent a lot of time thinking about our new kitchen as I love to cook and so do my adult children and friends. I chose an Aga, four door, red and I am so glad I did. I took a lot of grief for this choice (looks like someone's jaguar parked in the kitchen, etc) but now everyone loves it. We do turn it off in the peak of summer and use a conventional (well, induction, cooktop) and barbecue for summer cooking. We also do not air condition the greatroom/kitchen in which it is installed. Only the bedrooms are airconditioned, at the back of the house. We debated greatly the heat source. We live in the Pacific Northwest (cold rainy climate like the UK most of the year, hot summers tho) where electricity is still relatively cheap. This far out in the country natural gas is not an option, but propane was. However, our main consideration was the fact that we would have some hope of creating our own electrical energy via wind (we put a turbine in) and (eventually) solar, but no hope whatever of producing our own propane. It is a large footprint which we try and ameliorate via the wind turbine, hanging our laundry out to dry, driving a hybrid car and staying home rather than flying all over the place (say, on vacation). It's not a perfect solution to our shared environmental problems, clearly. BUt having installed it, what do we think? we use it to dry and press laundry (example table napkins can be hung until barely damp outside, then folded and placed on the Aga's warming plate to dry to a perfect ironed-look, same with sheets and pillow cases. We use it and it alone to make toast; we use it as a slow cooker (the 250 degree oven), we can on it, we cook on it, we make pizza in it; we dry mushrooms and herbs in it and on it, it gives the kitchen a gentle warmth in winter, which humans and dogs love. I have cooked on wood fired and coal fired stoves and ovens; on gas stoves and cooktops, on induction cooktops, in steam ovens, etc. I would go with the beloved Aga everytime and so would my DH, the skeptic, everytime.

I wonder if anyone else is as sick and tired of the run-around that these two brands (Charlies and Sensi-Clean/Sportwash)are doing to people. It should be a federal law that they disclose all chemcials in these products. I spent countless hours trying to get the ingredients and got the same old "trade secret" crap. I am tired of the game they are playing with consumers and will not buy anything from anyone that does not tell me what is in it. You could be killing yourself and not know it and paying money for it on top of that. These company(ies) have only their best interests and fat wallets in mind. They can put anything into their detergents including cancer causing chemicals and you are buying it and putting it on your children (it isn't rinsing out 100% no matter what they say) or in their ground water (imagine 2 loads everyday, 7 days a week going into your soil-it adds up)especially if you have a drinking well it winds up there eventually. I now beleive they are the same and I won't buy either of these products again and will keep looking for an honest company that I don't have to worry about every time I put a load of clothing in my laundry machine.

I'd have expected "local insights" would have included thoughts about prevalence - everywhere or regional pockets, cities versus towns. Political Impact - a voice that has a significant presence and has an influence on political policies or a fringe that's ignored. Trends - growing or shrinking. Public activities - frequent or infrequent, lawful or not. Reflections on whether its presence is relevant or not relevant in understanding UK people and politics. Something a local person may have notions of that sources found from searches, things like news clippings and Wiki sources, almost always lack. I fear, and often experience with comments in this forum, that too many people think the results of internet searches convey knowledge. They provide word matches that at best may offer snippets of truthful information and at worst are wrong, intentionally or otherwise. Rarely complete and balanced views. Information needs to be digested, understood and put into context -factoids from searches don't do that.

Yeah, I didn't want to be the first to say it, but that kitchen finish kinda reminds me of the color of dinosaur hide that bad artists imagine when making picture books for children.

i wish i could buy it, but it would take up half my kitchen!

when i showed my dh the picture of farmgirlinky's aga, he said, "oh, and they have little one that you want." of course he was talking about the 24" aga companion to their beauty.

anyhow, yes it would nice if it could find a good GW home.

Does anyone know anything about this range? Hard to find info on the 60"....Also, I know this has been discussed before but...this range vs. DF 48"Wolf. Thoughts?

Oh that is a beauty!

Vinogirl, the Aga...not the Aga Legacy, but the traditional Aga cooker...is very unlike a Wolf or other modern stoves. The traditional Aga is always on. Always. So it is always radiating heat. The Aga cooker cooks through stored heat. You cook food at lower or higher temps by choosing which oven/hot plate to cook the dish in. I think someone who owns one could explain it much better than I, but a traditional Aga and a Wolf are two very different beasts.

I love the look of an Aga, but they are intimidating to use. I had a very real concern I would put one in and not have a workable kitchen. And since I do like to actually use kitchens, as well as look at them ...

What i find telling is how often people supplement the Aga (here and abroad) with another smaller cooktop, and sometimes also a wall oven! It is almost as if the Aga is a prop!

But I would like to ask dear Marthavila to chime in, as she has and uses and Aga, whereas I have only lusted after them.

Not sure if anybody is interested, but there was a Heartland Cooker on clearance at a local appliance store in Louisville, KY. They are seriously trying to unload it. It wasn't what I was looking for...but they ordered it by mistake and just want to find it a home...

Yes, we made the drive from western Canada in Jan-Feb. My mother died in Nov. and the NYC landlord gave us 90 days to empty her rent control apartment. We made the drive with our 16' cargo trailer, and stopped at the border to get everything sorted out and approved. We took what we could -- what's left of my parents' lives and my childhood is in that trailer, sigh -- and took the rest to Salvation Army, etc. But it was packed and there wouldn't have been room for a toaster oven let alone an Aga!
