help with saving transparent

I can't remember how to save so a pix comes out with a transparent background.. can any one refresh my ole memory???

Hi There.

Try doing your save as either a .gif, .psp or pspimage, that should keep a transparent background....I usually forget, save as a .jpg & then have this lovely white background....lol...

Thanks but that won't work.. U will still get the white. I know it has to be exported but don't remember the settings..

You've probably discovered that it is just water stressed (wilted). It should come out of it on its own if you didn't damage the roots too badly. To ease the stress, enclose it in a clear plastic bag - maybe even a garbage bag - to keep the humidity high until it rebounds.

Actually, I would say that most humans try to do whatever they think is best for themselves and immediate family, without seeming to impinge too outrageously upon others. Just short of official censure, IOW. Obviously a significant minority are utterly selfish and do not stop even at directly harming others and/or their prospects. I agree that every bit of extractable fossil fuel will be extracted and used, presuming our capacity to do so persists long enough. I don't think it will, for a large number of factors: climate change, environmental degradation, costly conflicts over land and resources to name a few. These will likely reduce human civilizations to subsisting on annual sun-fall before we get to all coal and shale deposits. The richest societies will likely manage a partial shift to renewables via best technology but that savings will be engulfed and then some by the ravening horde. It's gonna be a wild ride.

Okay....I've tried Irfanview and PSP 7 and when I try to save them to these places, they show up blank. Mikie...these are pictures from my grandson's teacher's website. I am making him an album of his school years and wanted some pictures she has there. She has a template that she drops the pictures into for the site, and they are there as transparent gifs. There are tutorials on "making" transparent gifs, but I could find no place that told me how to print them from a website. Thank you, Mikie...I've never tried printing air :o)

Well I heard back from the local supplier aaaand... the spring I go to is privately owned. So they don't know for sure. but they said they'd worked with the gentleman who owns the spring and didn't recall him using chloramines, and were confident the water was clean. I'm not actually so sure that's the problem anyhow. Only two of the plants are losing bottom leaves to crinkling tips. Hopefully they're just old leaves. I started watering the Trinidad more carefully, so hopefully that improves. If watering gently from the top helps its condition, I'm going to move it to a plastic pot asap. I'll keep an eye on it and let you guys know. Dunno if this is helpful but the Trinidad has never really held up its stems very well. When I first bought it the stems were falling all over the place and the only reason I still bought it was because the flowers were so cool :P is that just a trait of this particular variety? When it comes to giving plants enough light, can distance from the plant be the same as length of exposure? The light is mounted on a shelf in my room and it would be hard to drop it down. The plants are only about 1.5-2 ft from the light and get 6ish hours a day. Honestly the chimera and the trinidad are the biggest culprits for long petioles at the moment. They just don't want to lay down.

You're right, the .gif still gives you a white background... : ((

Which version of Psp are you working with?....I'm using V8...

I opened a new image, transparent background, put a tube on it, did a "Save As" & then specified that I wanted to save it as a .psp....when I reopened it, it did keep the transparent background...."Save Copy As" will also keep the transparent bg....

If you are creating a tube image, then yes, you export it, File, Export, Picture Tube....maybe this is what you are referring to?

Sorry I'm so long answering..
I am using PSP 9. What I want to do is save so I can put into a chat without the black background.. just transparent. I don't want to make a tube & PSP format won't work.
I know it is EXPORT as gif optimizer but don't know the settings. I have tried several settings but can't seem to get it right.

Dar, it would be easier to remove the present color, then replace the color with the background color of the page you are going to post it on. You can get the exact background color with your eyedropper.

Hi Sugar,
Hope you don't mind me jumping in here. An easy and sure way to save transparent gifs is to first save your single layer transparent Paint Shop Pro image as "animation shop psp". Then open it in Animation shop and save it as a gif.

when you save your GIF, select the SAVE-AS option off the file menu, then click the OPTIONS button, then click RUN OPTIMIZER, then select appropriate transparency(ies).

When transparent image is open in PSP,
Right click it, choose Copy, open animation shop, right click and paste as new image.
Go up to file, Save as, name it, and under the Partial Transparency tab, I have my settings set at:convert pixels less than 40. Check No, use the existing image color at 100%
I test it in OE on a colored background to see there is no white edges. Adjust accordingly when saving.
