Does anyone here know if PSP7 or PSP9 work on a Vista 64 Bit computer?

OMG Urlee,
You are not thinking of giving up version 7 are you..??
Of course I don't have an answer to your vista question as I am still using ( and hope to continue to us) XP.....
It seems that so many things are either not compatable with vista or have special direction for Vista...
Why do they have to keep making new stuff when the old stuff works just fine??

Hi Elly,

I have been searching and wanting a laptop for at least 2 years now so I can participate more on these forums etc. and making "goodies" with my software programs where sitting at a desktop gets pretty tiring at "my old age" (smiles) Not a teenager anymore.
I FINALLY found a laptop to my liking and $$ but it is a 64 Bit machine and I certainly would not want it if I could not use Jasc PSP's on it.

Can't contact Jasc as they are no longer.
Hopefully I will find out so I can get down to business here.

WOW! You people sure brightened up my feelings. I think I have been reading too much and better get down to brass tacks and ORDER my LONG AWAITED laptop! One just slipped through my hands on account of my pokiness. Then I found another one I LOVE but is a 64 bit which left me confused again. SOOOOO, I definitely will stick to 32 bit for compatibility etc. Still leery of site unseen Toshiba Satelites but am a hair away from taking the plunge and surely will write here to you first to let you know of me being a proud owner of one! The ones I have been dickering with have a T8100 processor and wonder if the one I may have to settle for with the P7350 will be just as good if not better? I left the specs on my "Laptop" post. Thanks again for making the sunshine for me. I know I shied away from XP for the longest time only to find it so beautiful compared to Win98. Urlee

Take my advise and keep your XP. I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 and I hate it. Your PSP will work, and Animation Shop will also work. I have PSP 7 through 12, but mostly use 10. Very few of my plug-ins/filters will work. When I try to download a filter that isn't working I am given an error message : Access denied, telling me Administrative privileges may be required.... I have not found anyone that can help me with this. Hey, I am the administrator!!!! The only thing I enjoy about it is the 23 inch screen. On my old computer when I clicked on an icon on my screen I was instantly taken to the program. Now, I click sometimes 8 to 10 times before it opens my program. I know you will have to update from XP sometimes but I reallllllly wish I had not. Sorry to be so discouraging but telling you the facts as I am experiencing them. If anyone can help me with these problems I am listening. I do not like Windows Live Mail. I had Outlook Express and was pleased with it.

Hi Clairdo, Welcome, I am just learning too. Here are a couple of good sites: Designs by Joy - some basic stuff another really basic tutorial Mallory/Bestlawn over at the Kitchen table also does some really good ones. I don't have a link off hand, but I'll post it when I find it. She is very patient with those of us who are a little "slow"....LOL!! I use PSP 7 & 8 with Animation Shop, and find the learning curve a little steep, but the people here are wonderful. I have learned so much here and am sure you will too!

amy, There are good points to both. (9&X) In X, I liked the fact that you could see each image in the layer palette without having to run your mouse over. I haven't used them (9&X) long enough to see but a lot of folks swear by 9 and I sure was lucky to get a PSP9 as I bet it was one of the last ones sold. Started to use X when I first bought it. Then I ran into a snag which my dear friend JOY gave me a solution to where when e-mailing our "dear" Coral, they gave me the run around and couldn't tell me what Joy did which was such a simple thing. I let them know too. But like I say, what I do do in PSP, PSP7 does it just fine as I only have been resizing, touchups, multiple printing, and copy/paste to MSWord from there what I want to insert. I can't remember which one stopped having Animation shop but as long as you have it now, or a disk with it, you are OK as Animation Shop is a program of it's own that works with 7, 8, 9, & X.

I have Vista on a laptop with PSP 9 and 10 loaded on it. I don't think V7 is very compatable. Most of my work is done on V9 as it loads faster and works well with other versions of PSP.

Is it 64 Bit??????
That's what I am concerned about.

I use PSP7 mostly cause it loads faster than 9 but would switch to 9 if it works and better with Vista 64 Bit,.

My computer is 64 Bit & a couple days ago I put PSP 7 on it.. it seems to be doing OK.

Yes Sugar,
I have PSP7 and PSP9 on my win7 64 Bit laptop and they work fine for me but as I said, I have a hard time changing from PSP7 to the better PSP9 cause I am so used to everything on PSP7.

Hi,
I am not sure if I know what I am talking about here, but I am wondering if any of these problems have anything to do with Windows 7. I know it does not support 8bf files, and so many of the plug ins (especially the older ones) we use, have them as a basis.....
I know this is not exactly germane to the subject matter here, but I am wondering if anyone here is using 7, and finding it does not support a lot of stuff (including even some printers)??
