OOPS...got behind on this thread. Peggy, I am still working on my spreadsheets and making labels in preparation to then plant, plant, plant without having to stop and make more labels. I have targeted Thanksgiving for having all bulbs, or nearly all the important bulbs planted. I'm not as concerned about the few NO ID daffs I have and the 250 or so specie tulips and muscari. I can sneak them in easily anywhere anytime before a good ground freeze. You wear me out with everything you have going so many evenings? Has all of the exercising given you more energy? Linda, Congratulations on your very first grand baby. I'm sure he caused a lot of excitement for everyone and hope he is doing great. Sorry to hear of your Mom's fall, but glad it was nothing serious. Possibly it served as a good warning to try and be very careful. She sure seems to be doing well for her age and please tell her I am looking forward to her making it to the next swap...hear? Doris, I'm sure the daffs your boss got will not to too pink. I'm going to guess that they were likely ordered from Breck's. If so, their pics are touched up and are not a good depiction of their true colors. Here is Breck's Pink Collection (not!) Here are some pics that better show their true colors Chromacolor at Daffseek Romance at Daffseek Pink Charm at Daffseek In attending some local Daffodil Shows, I did see many daffs that had a very pretty pink color to them...a true soft pink, nothing peachy about it. Another thing too, is that a daffs color changes as the bloom matures. A bloom that emerges as a yellowy peach can turn its true color of being more pink as it matures. The pic below is Salome on the left and Mrs. R. O. Backhouse on the right. The pic below was taken one day later (and some blooms were added), but you can seed how they have 'pinked up' a good bit. Neither are ones I would call one of the truer pinks though compared to what I have seen at shows. Peggy, your garden club lunch and then work sounds like a lot of fun. I hope it does well and you get us some pics next year. Sue...off to hopefully finish up pretty well on labels today.

well to tell ya the truth i do not know I have white and i have pink...couldnt tell you which is which until they bloom i am new to all this i also have new water lotus starts that i am growing but i do not know what color they are...either ink or purple..will have water lettuce and water hyacinth once it spreads and also parrot feather

Hi all! Hi Bill-it isn't any fun replacing plants in our landscaping because of this freeze we had. I still have a few to replace....I'm waiting for a warmer day to do it though BUT I still need to buy the plants first (LOL). That would help, huh? Beaver: Here IT is...coming around the corner..... I have been outside but not really working in my yard lately because of the winds blowing cold. I do see some pansies blooming now they look really beautiful which makes me happy. My tulips are growing taller each day. I had crocus bloom already. I have some daffodills coming up too. I did go to a nursery and bought some flowers a few days ago. Planted some and am waiting to finish planting them after these winds go away. (No drooling now-you'll be out there working soon enough) Seacliffsand: I don't have climbing roses but I do know there is a special way of pruning them. Lisa, do you know it? I would call a local nursery for the how to on doing it asap. Not sure where you are but Plant World and Star Nursery in Las Vegas are great with advise on everything. If you leave all the underlayments as they are (lathe, plaster and mortar) and then add more mortar and new tile, you will end up having to change all the trim around the doors, baseboard and window. The new mortar and tile will increase the depth of the walls, which will throw the profile of the existing trim out of whack. However, if you tackle the removal of it all, you'll have to deal with the same thing. The good news about removing it all is that you'll increase the size of your bathroom by the thickness of it all - a couple of inches in each direction:) We are also in an old bungalow and gutting our 4' x 5' master bath is on our to do list. One thing that we're including in our planning is our furnace. Why? Because the chimney comes up from the basement behind the bathroom wall and out thru the roof. When we redo the bathroom, we'll also be getting a new furnace which is energy efficient and side vents out the basement, eliminate the chimney and then add the space that the chimney currently occupies into the area of the bathroom. Don't know if you have a basement or how your furnace is set up. This may be food for thought...
