I thought i'd just pass along this little tidbit about Pricilla Tyler, the daughter in-law John Tyler asked to be his hostess at the White House due to Letitia's illness. Priscilla Cooper was born in New York City in 1816. Her father Thomas Apthorpe Cooper was a successful stage actor and producer. Her mother Mary Fairlee Cooper was a New York socialite. Priscilla began to work as an actress at the age of 17. Pricilla's father was a great success in the theater business and the Coopers lived in a grand house on Broadway. Unfortunately the family's fortunes were reversed during the Panic of 1837. The family lost their house and at one point were reduced to subsisting on radishes and strawberries. Pricilla met the former US Senator John Tyler's eldest son Robert Tyler while playing Desdemona in a production of Othello in Richmond, Virginia. In Victorian America, acting was considered a scandalous profession and actresses had little social standing. It would seem unlikely a young actress with financial problems could ever marry the son of a wealthy plantation owner, however despite their social differences, the couple wed in Bristol, Pennsylvania on September 12, 1839, and the Tyler's warmly welcomed her into the Tyler family.

They finally got my nephew's picture on the Lottery website! lol! A small picture - but a big check! He looks happy - doesn't he? I'm proud of the little guy - stashed the entire amount in the bank! Says he's saving for his four-wheel drive! Mike

I don't know about in Tyler (where I also live), but Dave's Garden members just had their East Texas Roundup (plant swap) in Jacksonville last Saturday. There were quite a few people there from all over east Texas. In addition to all the great plant swapping, we had a pot luck lunch. It was great fun. You might want to look into it for next year.

Well thanks! Your storm is going to dump 40-50 cm in eastern ontario, canada this weekend...you think its 'purty'....I won't tell ya what I think! Worst winter since 1971 for me. But I have to admit it was so warm today (calm before the storm) I went out window shopping walking outside for almost 3 hours...could almost smell spring. Now we're warming up to the pitch - 10 cm tonight. So I can stretch it out tomorrow morning clearing that. Must be weird when you're not used to it but it's old news in my neck of the woods. It's all I can talk about these days, my new hobby - snow shoveling. And I'm an avid gardener - dying here for spring....my seedlings are anticipating their garden bed....aaaaauuuuuugggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Will it ever end? They forecast snow into April of all things! Aaaaauuuuuuuuggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! and yes, I'm taking photos this weekend!
