Installing Johnson Pocket door kit
Comments (8)This is a bit off topic of attachment methods, but in case anyone is searching for Johnson pocket doors I thought I'd mention that you can save a fair amount if you buy the 1500 series universal 36" kit(s) from Lowes (~$50) instead of the LE Johnson website or amazon.com (~$87 + $21 S/H). Since I was doing converging pocket doors (two pocket doors that meet in the middle) I saved over $115! (I then bought the convergence kit from amazon.) Anyway, I hope this helps save someone some money they could then apply towards something your friends and neighbors will actually see, instead of something hidden inside the wall. :-)...See MoreHelp? Comments (5)I'm going back by tomorrow. I'll snap a pic then. But they're the reverse of that. They're toward the front of each cabinet with the light bar in the back. It was noticeable to me because our bottom trim hasn't been out on yet so I saw white metal and stickers and the plugs.. Then I looked up under the cabs and saw the light is curved and angled on the outside edge and is facing the back. So my counter and backsplash will be illuminated I guess. I still can't figure out why each one has that double ended plug going from the light to that box thing....See MoreAre my pocket doors installed correctly?
Comments (13)Mine were put in when this house was built in 1968. I had 3 sets of them. One doorway was taken out, and walled in, when we put a new 4 ft wide doorway into the hall side. The other two are still there. They are all flush with the opening. I sure wouldnt want them to stick out a half inch. If mine did that, since one is on the laundry room, I wouldnt even have been able to get my washer and dryer in there. On mine, there is a little plastic type lever flush with the door edge, that pulls out, to pull the door out of the pocket, and then there are hand hold things built into the door on both side, to use to pull it the rest of the way....See MoreWere my cabinets ordered correctly?
Comments (12)Some manufacturers consider it a time and money saver to make both sides finished. Less chances for error and they can work faster on the manufacturing line...so it totally makes sense. I wish all my cabinet lines finished both sides. Some of my lines do, other we have to specify. I so love when I don't have to think about it....and there's peace of mind that I didn't make an error. One other bonus: Years from now, it will be great if you ever decide to redo the kitchen ....the cabinets can easily be rearranged and installed in the basement or garage....without worrying about an unfinished end....See Moreron6519
