adding new exterior door to stucco wall

All,

Planning to install a new french door in an exterior wall (no existing opening). I'm wondering if there's a way to do this without requiring major stucco patching when I'm done. Never done this before - here is my plan...

- remove drywall (up to the nearest studs outside of the door area)

- add framing for new door (add header, new studs, etc.)

- reroute electrical (if necessary)

- drill holes (from inside at 4 corners of new opening, and a couple of other spots along the sides and top.

- from the outside, use a saw (reciprocating? or circular?) to cut out the opening

- install door

- add exterior trim to cover cut stucco edge...

Seems like if I do this well, I never need to patch stucco (which I'm horrible at). Also seems that I minimize the time that I have a hole in the house by waiting until the end to cut the hole in the exterior wall.

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks,

Craig
