Depression in sheetrock suddenly appeared
Comments (22)I dug out the middle - still seems a little cool/darker color so not quite dry? Maybe I mixed it too wet (hard to mix just a small amount). Anyway, the middle moves - do you think the EZ Sand will bond the back of the drywall to the front of the patch, or do I have to cut all the way through (and find some way to get backer material in there?)? At this point I'm wondering how good a patch it has to be, since we'll eventually put a window seat/built in bookcases there? That might be 10 years from now though......See MoreMoisture in Sheetrock/Wall
Comments (6)Were kids in tub , did some one inadvertently leave the shower curtain outside the tub. If it has been leaking for a while and consistently you would know, think smell. I have twins and had a similar problem they were relegated to the bath on the 1st fl. The older sister was the one who left the curtain hanging out on several occasions. Do some detective work before you start ripping walls open....See MoreInside ceiling above shower sheetrock appear many water beads.
Comments (7)I'm not sure what part of the country you're in, but here in TX my pipes are routed in the attic to at least the master bathroom (they are insulated in the attic), but nonetheless routed there (I could have others routed in the attic, just that is one I'm familiar with). You should be able to tell if there is any pipes nearby by just feeling around. As the previous poster mentioned you could be having a roof leak somewhere else and this is where it ends up. Also in my area the attic is much hotter than the bathroom and if you have pipes routed in the attic that lost their insulation they will likely be sweating in the attic. Yes I would do an exhaust fan and make sure it is vented to the outside (not into the attic). The exhaust fan will pull the air out of the room (if properly sized). The opened skylight only does a partial job at that depending on the wind etc....See MoreWet window wall
Comments (12)Hi Thanks for the reply. We don't have any flashing outside. Attached is the picture of the window outside. There appears to be gap/crack between window and wall. The wall is wet on all four corners of the window. If we have to put caulking outside then which is better as there are so many varieties in home depot. Also the wall inside which is wet looks like previous owner tried to do some temporary fix and which didn't work. How can we fix the wall. Should we scrape the wet wall and use spackling to patch and then paint it ? Since its case of wet wall, is there any paint which we could apply outside for water proofing and over it could be painted with our sherwin williams exterior paint. Thanks for your help Mash...See Morelbpod
