Price and quality comparisons of frameless brands

I've been trying to price out frameless cabs. aat a number of local dealers. The brands I've found so far are:

Brookhaven/Woodmode (I've only considered the Brookhaven, though)
Greenfield
Dura Supreme
Bertch Custom.

I'm still collecting quotes, but so far the Greenfield came in around $13K delivered and the Brookhaven $13K installed. The Bertch dealer is drawing up a quote now, but he said it would be maybe $1K or so more than the framed, which are $12,000 in furniture board and almost $14 in all plywood. Greenfield only does 3/4" plywood.

Some of these lines of cabinets are not commented on much around here--Greenfield and Bertch, especially. Does anyone have any info on the relative quality and price brackets of these lines?

My kitchen is about 10x12', BTW. Thanks.

I also know of InnerMost (sp?) at Home Depot, which I did not price because I somehow missed them. Also Executive, which look really nice but I have flakey local dealers that did not get back to me so not sure on price other than I got the impression they were very reasonable (one dealer was brand new to the line and just getting materials so I don't hold that against them).

Plus Bellmont, which I have currently stacked all over the great room waiting for install in May. They look really nice. They have a 1900 series and a 1600 series, which differ on what's standard and also material thickness.

I just ordered Greenfield cabinets for my kitchen overhaul. I am having trouble with my order (tried to make a minor change 2 days after ordering but before the cabinets were cut) and have written to the upper levels there to try and solve the problem. My cabinet dealer had no luck with their customer service dep't. I will post a follow up when I find out if they are going to be customer-friendly or ignore my problem because they already have my money.

Bridgewood Advantage is your best bet for highly modifiable frameless cabinets. They say they are custom but they have limitations. Fully Loaded kitchens should run about $350 - $450 per lineal foot. 10 x 10 kitchen is considered 20 lineal feet. Here is a link that might be useful: Bridgewood Custom Cabinets

John, Thanks for the info. I was not clear initially. I was not asking for actual prices, but the relative prices of the different decking materials. For instances, assuming I had access to all the different brands locally, no shipping was involved and the tax % was the same, would Trex be more expensive than Timbertech? Veranda more expensive than Choicedeck, etc, etc? It seems to me that some of the products are going to be more premium priced (whether that represents actual quality is a different matter). My assumptions could all be wrong if there are no MSRP's for these products, but in any case, I assume there are wholesale prices that the retailers pay. Again, I'm not looking for the actual prices, but the trends. I don't need to call around locally to know that a BMW is going to cost more then a Chevy. What I want to know is what are the BMW's and what are the Chevy's. Bart

We installed (ourselves) shaker inset white Conestoga RTA cabinets from & worked with Cabinet Joint to order. Would I do it again?... not sure. It was a lot of work & since RTA and factory painted, you have to plan everything super careful to account for seams, joins, etc. No t sure I would do insets again as those shows any misalignment unlike overlaps which can hide door alignment issues. The cabinets are very high quality wood and construction for the price BUT factory (white) is beginning to show yellowing around stove and garbage bin door where you touch it, etc - in other words, hard to keep factory finish looking great for long if you use your kitchen like we do. So we saved a ton of money over semi custom or custom but it was a lot of work to build, install, rewire, etc. Took me months of working by myself to do it and probably could have done a bit better job. There are some limits as to what you can do RTA but I found out after the fact, I probably could have done a bit more custom orders on a few cabs with Conestoga but I went with a more standard size which left a couple cabinets not exactly custom looking but fine (like a gap between frig and upper cab is not a exact fit but show a gap of 2-3 inches (I would have preferred it to be a built in, custom made look but nobody really notices its a nitpick. I am think they will need to be repainted after 10-12 years (white shows alot). Out painter does repaints of old cabinets and uses a specific euro product to do so . The boxes aren't the cabinets. The doors are. Yes, the boxes hold your stuff, but pretty much any material boxes will do the same job. Yes, you can spend an extra 20% "upgrading" to plywood if you have money to burn, but you aren't buying anything useful or meaningful. The biggest differences are in the doors. The quality of wood used. The amount of heartwood vs. sapwood, vs. more knots and pinholes vs. less if you are doing something rustic. Then there is the sanding. And the finishing. Good quality cabinet doors have a depth and subtle sheen to them that poor quality ones never will. Look at the endgrain edges. Are they rough? Do they catch on fabric or a paper towel? Are they the same color? THAT is what you judge a cabinet line on, not the box material. Of your list, Medallion would probably rank highest for me, followed by Kraftmaid. But that is an in person judgement call for you to make. But, DON'T over-rate the boxes and under-rate the doors. That's a classic rookie mistake.

I honestly have no idea on relative cost, but we chose InnerMost from HD and couldn't be more pleased with them. In fact, we liked them so much in the kitchen that we finally bit the bullet and installed a wall of their cabinets in a different style in our MBR. In our approx. 13 x 9 kitchen plus 4 more 66" (?) "china cabinets" in the attached DR, the total came to $14,000-odd. This included all lower drawers, a pantry with lower pull-outs, a super-susan, but no spice pull-outs, etc.

Based on some recs here on GW, we ordered (and just installed) the Advantage by Bridgewood cabinets. You can choose frameless. I did a bunch of shopping around, and they were the best value that I could find. But I also had a lot of special issues, so I need something pretty custom, which these are.

So now that my Bellmont 1900 series cabinets are installed, I have to add that we LOVE them! Even the installers (new to the company we worked with) kept commenting on how nice they were. Some of the doors will be replaced, but that seems par for the course with installs, and it is at the request of the cabinet company we are working with. The issues they pointed out were minor, though a bit annoying to see. I haven't had to ask for anything yet.
