They sell a product to get oil out of concrete. It would be in the automotive part of a store. It is little clay granules. I suspect kitty litter would also help.

Try using Dawn dish soap on it. Let it sit a few minutes, then wet and use a scrub brush on it and rinse.

Muriatic acid.

Thank you for answering so quickly-I did try the granules but they only dried up the oil. The acid I did not try -where do you get that?

Home Depot here sells it only in a two gallon carton. That is two one gallon containers. Just a bit much for cleaning up a spill.

My sister-in-law told me that after she had a new concrete driveway put in several years ago, her handyman left some dripping oil from his car when he parked there. She used baby powder to take out both the oil & resulting stain. Said it worked beautifully. However, this was the first remedy she tried, so I don't know if would work for you at this point. Since she told me this, I always immediately mop up oil/grease based stains on clothing with dry corn starch, which works fine as well.

Back in the mid 80's I took a job with a local school district as an Institutional Maintenance Tech and I worked on a 4 man crew that did all the maintenance for 9 school buildings. The average person would never guess, but when you look down the hallways of a school building, little do you know that there is a long dark tunnel under that floor that is equal to if not larger than the hallway your in, and running through that tunnel is miles of steam pipes, plumbing lines, drain lines and electrical conduits hanging from the ceilings or on racks on the walls. Some of those tunnels have a 60watt lightbulb about every 100ft but for the most part you work by flashlight and more often than not, you do not see daylight for your entire 8 or 9hr shift.

Now think about that airhandler section on the top of your indoor HVAC unit, you know. the part with the AC coil and the air filter. In a school or large building the air handlers are huge sheetmetal boxes that are 10 to 15feet wide, 12 feet high and often 20 to 30feet long. To change the filters or service the coils you literally go inside that box while the blowers are running and blowing air through the box at 60 to 100mph. (You put on a safety belt then attach a tether cord to a steel bar to keep you from being blown through the box while working).

Our boilers were set up with multi-fuel burners so we could fire anything from natural gas & home heating fuel(no.2 deisel) to heavy #4 bunker oil ( a heavy heating fuel that is so thick you have to heat the tanks to keep it liquid).

I used to wear "Dickies work uniforms" which were light tan colored and beleive me, between the pure carbon and flyash in the boiler fireboxes, the heavy fuel oils and the grease we used to lubricate bearings, not to mention the foul odorous stuff we got from the plumbing drain pipes I used to come home with stains on my hands and clothes that no soap this side of hell could remove.

Believe me, we had tried every type of industrial soap and hand cleaner known to man, both water & waterless type.

One day I was working on some plumbing lines in the school chemistry lab and I happened to tell the teacher if she could invent a soap that would clean our hands and clothes she would make a fortune.

That lady laughed at me and said, "Here, try this" as she reached in her locker and pulled out a small plastic bottle with a nozzle on it like a elmers glue bottle. She said, "squirt some of that on your hands and use it like a waterless hand cleaner, then wash that off and see how you like it."

I did as instructed, squirted some of the liquid on my hands, fully expecting it to burn like a harsh soap, but to my surprise, no burn, but it instantly started lifting that black nasty dirt & grime that I had been unable to get off. A light wash in warm water and my hands were cleaner than I had seem then in months.

She says "you can squirt that stuff on your clothes to pretreat the stains before you wash them too.."

I was amazed so I asked her where I could get some of that stuff and she laughed like a little kid..then she said, "If I tell you, your gonna think I am crazy"

I said, "Oh no, I have seen that stuff work, and I really want to know where to get more?"

She says, "Go to any drugstore, walmart, kmart,or grocery store and get a bottle of Johnson & Johnson Baby oil, cause that is what it is. The baby oil will disolve the grease but the baby oil is water soluable so it will wash out with plain water, and the best part, if its gentle enough for a babies butt, you can be sure it won't burn your hands either."

I went back to the shop and told the other guys and they all thought I was nuts till I held my hands out and showed them the results. The next morning when I came to work every guy in the shop had a bottle of baby oil....LOL

We even used it to degrease parts we were working on.
