My Kitchen Photo Shoot

I wanted to link you to my behind the scenes photos of the photo shoot in my kitchen today. You guys gave me lots of advice when I was making backsplash decisions (Thank You). I posted my thread on the Kitchens forum, but I wanted to share today's event with you too.

"You mean it voz nice but isn't now??color>" Actually, it being a Czech broom, you've got the pronunciation wrong: Its more like "Voznjitse", if you get my drift.... As for the meaning, the name is undoubtedly a place name, and is derived from the verb "vozit" -- which means to transport (or ride) on a cart or sled. So I suspect Voznice was named after a local cart or sled manufacturing enterprise, a few centuries ago...

I already commented on this house, and came back later to look more and read more. Beautiful. But I am very disappointed to read all the comments directed at the person who gave an unflattering review. I was hoping people would ignore and let it go, but since that's not happening, I'm going to throw something out here. Sooner is a class act. She did an awesome job with her home, she asked for help tweaking, and she took some advice. She also.........ignored those who either didn't share her taste or were having an 'off' day. Some here should do the same. Sooner does not need defending, most who posted seem to love what she's done. And I think it is most unkind to mock someone else's decorating, no matter what the provocation. If I say I hate Sooner's kitchen, will 20 people look up my kitchen and tell me how ugly it is? Not nice, guys. Give it a rest, please. Most sincerely directed at a lot of people I have grown to enjoy and respect... Red

Now you know how Metallica feel. It's a sad fact of the Internet age: people feel like everything they find is theirs. They download music. They scrape articles and put their names on them, take photos and use them in ads. They don't feel like they're doing anything wrong. The people who used your photo in the ad may honestly not understand they did anything wrong. If it honestly bothers you that they did this, contact them, tell them calmly that you're really uncomfortable with them using the photo to promote their business, and could they make another ad? That might be all it takes. And if they're jerks, all the threats in the world won't make them do anything. I'm not a lawyer, but I think from my work experience, and what's posted here, that your legal position would be murky. One thing you CAN do, as starpooh pointed out, that makes photos less appealing to scrapers, and makes them MUCH easier to identify, is watermarking. Watermark those suckers all over the place. They'll choose softer targets. Photographers and other artists who make their living selling images, but need people to see their work to buy it, have various ways of getting around the bad guys. Some won't let images on the 'net at all. Sad. In the end, I think we all have to accept that everything we put out there is being stolen in some way.

OK. I replied on the kitchen forum, thinking it was the dec forum. It took me a minute to realize I was in the kit. forum after I had replied. Very confusing, lol!~
Loved everything especially the green chair and green bottles! It reminded me of B/W pics where there is one colored element ps'd into the pic. Very cool!

Thanks for the nice comments. kmcg85, I love that chair too! I bought it in a consignment store last year, I've always had this color in places in my house, love it.

What is the tile you used for the backsplash? Forgive me if this was on the other thread you mentioned, I must have missed that!

tinam61, the tiles are handmade Beveled Arabesque tiles. They are made in Mexico. The company that sells them is Mission Stone and Tile. They are the ones that sponsored the contest. Each tile is individual.

dazzle--the colors are by Valspar, (although I used BM's Aura paint), Coastal Villa, and Italian Leather (which is the darker color on the hood wall and the fireplace wall). There is a 3rd color that no one can see, it's on the clock wall. It is actually the color that is inbetween these 2 on the paint strip. It turned out not to be significantly different so nobody notices my "accent" wall. But I was just telling my dh that we should have used that color instead of the Coastal Villa, it is richer.

That is just the neatest thing, what a nice home you have. I love the way the bright colors really catch your eye, like kmcg said, it's like the black and white pictures with one item in color for effect.
