Where have u bought your high-end appliances?
Comments (4)I bought my SZ, Wolf range and F&P DDs from locally owned appliance stores (not big box stores). As best I know, the SZ and Wolf products are carried only by stores which are directly linked to the regional distributors for Wolf & SZ. I feel so strongly about supporting locally owned stores, I did not search anywhere else for my appliance products. After living with them for nearly 4 years, I'm still delighted with their performance. The intallation was done by people who only install these products. They knew exactly what to do, how to do it, and so the install was a dream....See MoreHave you purchased large appliances online?
Comments (5)I purchased an appliance from ABT. They sent a confirmation email. Then sent a tracking number. Then confirmed appliance shipped and estimated delivery date. If you have time and you are not getting a discount for ordering all appliances at the same time maybe order one appliance at a time. If there is a problem you have a problem with one appliance not three. I ordered a $5k range from a different internet dealer. That was a bit nerve racking until the range arrived. Below is e'bay link to 30" Bluestar Cooktop. It is $1.2k plus shipping. I would strongly suggest this over Wolf. Google gardenweb + Bluestar or RNB to read up on Bluestar and their burners. There is nothing special about that Wolf cooktop and therefore a reason to pay a premium. There is something special about the Bluestar. Here is a link that might be useful: LINK...See MoreEbay/Online Appliance purchase of Wolf Appliance
Comments (9)I should also mention that we made our 50% deposits before the December 2006 price hike. We had read on this forum and others that the price increase was going to be 15% and the Lakes folks acknowledged that we had to place our order by a certain date to guarantee the 2006 prices (no pressure, just factual). They held our appliances in their warehouse until we were ready to ship in April. They sat in our garage until late summer 2007. (Don't let subcontractors see the big "Wolf" and "Sub-Zero" boxes in your garage or their estimates will go way up, double in some cases - but that's another thread.) Anyway, I think the only reason we were able to get the negotiating power is because we were out-of-state and shipping to out-of-state. Wolf/SZ have weird pricing issues when dealing with walk-in customers, and of course, there's the tax thing. But, they have great customer service and we did have one problem when we installed the SZ (operator error) and they had a local guy here in FL show up within hours to straighten us out (under warranty)....See MoreHave you ever bought a floor model appliance?
Comments (11)It would depend on the item and the warranty. A washing machine, people will have opened and closed that baby numerous times a day. The motor and such would be in pristine condition because they've never been used. Hmmm, I think I'd go over the cover with a fine-toothed comb and if it were nice and secure, and the warranty would cover anything that did happen to the cover, then I'd get it. I love a bargain....See Moretrav86
