new hole in roof for vent hood

Hi- new here, but I have been at the kitchen site a LOT. I thought I had fairly finalized plans for the kitchen, but now I'm considering a fairly major change. At the moment, there is a silly bathroom-type fan in the ceiling, but it is vented to the roof, and the ceiling part would only need to move a foot or so to accomodate the new hood. That was the plan.... I am now considering moving the range to a different wall, which would necessitate a new hole in the roof. If it helps, I have a shallow pitched roof, no attic (just a crawl space) and a standard sheet-type roof (not composite shingles).

I assume that it "can be done," but is this a big deal in terms of cost, chances of leakage if not done well, etc? I may just settle for my current layout if this proposition is the sort of thing that makes you say, "ew, hmmm.....you sure you want to do that?"

thanks!!!
