Whew. Did I get good news this morning! I hope it's the precursor to even more ... my cancer indicators all point to not needing chemotherapy, EXCEPT for the size of the tumor removed. That alone typically requires chemo. But there's a test out there, called Oncotype DX, that tests the tumor at the molecular level to help make the decision whether chemo is really beneficial for this particular tumor. My oncologist suggested we do it, but cautioned that my insurance might not cover it. The lab called last night and I missed the call, so I called them back this morning .. figuring they were breaking the news that it wasn't covered, and would I pay for it myself. I was going to have to say NO, because I just don't have the funds to risk. But instead, they said my insurance DOES cover it, at 100%!! I'm so relieved, it's a $3800 test.

Now I wait 10 - 14 days for the results. If I continue to be fortunate, the numbers will be low to indicate no chemo needed.
