Lt. cherry cabinets, need suggestions for knobs

Cabinets are almost all up and the granite template is scheduled for April 9. I need help with cabinet knobs. The cabinets are a light cherry, no glaze, stainless appliances, black Silgranite sink, brushed nickle faucet, and pendant over the sink and chandelier in our breakfast room both have a black finish and the granite is a med-dark green. I originally wanted the bird's nest knobs, but DH really doesn't like them. I'm flexible so I've looked at hundreds of other knobs. My question is: with the light cherry should I stay with black knobs and drawer handles? I think I need the black for contrast. Suggestions?

What style is the kitchen? C'mon, it's never too early to post pictures!

I'd guess that a brushed nickel would be enough contrast if you wanted to go that direction, but the black sounds good too. Black glass knobs? :)

fori, posting pictures... are you serious! All the cabinet doors are in another room and we are looking at empty boxes. There is no way you can get a feel for the style. I would say I'm shooting for traditional.

Marieskit and pagesturned: The floor is a porcelain tile Monocibec Graal Montesegur. We used it in the kitchen and the adjoining hallway. So far we really love the look of it. We used a random pattern with 3 different sizes of tiles. Thank you all so much for the comments and help with the backsplash. I will start looking at creamy subways. The subway in the picture is actually a Sonama tile in Cirrus -which has a green cast and is a crackle. I have one small sample of a white tile, but may be too white. Breezygirl thanks for the comment about the sink. It was actually this forum that made me look at the cascade sink. When I asked about it at the plumbing supply store we used, they had not even seen that model yet. We also ordered the optional grid for the bottom of the sink. I am anxious to get the faucet installed to actually get to use the sink. We have a grohe lady lux pro going in on Tuesday. I think I will really love how nice and deep the sink is. Thoughts for creamy subways - should I pursue a crackle or just a glossy tile. Also any thoughts on using stainless tiles to do an accent area behind the stove? Do I need a little "bling" in the kitchen or will it just be too busy? Thanks again

There are lots of different whites. I'm having medium stained cherry cabs, green granite, and sagey green walls. Stock white - like BM 01 or BM 02, which I have in other rooms, or Muralo White - just looked too stark. I took samples of my wood, wall paint and granite to a paint store - one that sells Muralo,Bruning, etc. They have designers on staff. One of them helped me pick a good off white for the trim, with no charge for the consultation. Sometimes these designers will even make house calls. I think the right shade of white or off white could be great with your cherry and oak.

what is the wood species of your island....and what is the perimeter in your space? I think because it's the island, I might pick a slightly lighter stain and have them glaze it,as long as you have some detail for the glaze to lay on. For an island, this kind of a detail, not complicated to achieve ,would be actually easier at this point than the trial and error trying to find just the right pigment to"allow" grain toshow......and really on the island, being below counter, not sure it's going to be appreciated so much...up on the walls where light hits and your eyes naturally get the full on view is a different matter. It's just going to look dark below the counter once you go that dark with an all over stain.....so add cafÃÂ© or dark bronze glaze to a medium-dark stain......easy!

I put it a very dark bombay mahogany island and it constantly shows dust. I live on a farm though so that might not be a problem for you but I have to dust it daily.

I don't think you need to stay with black, but I do like the contrast with the darker color. I have alder cabinets, SS appliances & faucet, cafe brown silgranit sink and went with brushed pewter knobs & pulls on the cabinets. I went with an antique rust on the island, which is white painted and glazed. It was such a difficult decision, but am very happy with our choices. I found it much easier to bring home samples and hold them up to the cabinets once they were installed.

I chose not to use metal knobs, but have knobs that are the same lightly stained cherry as are my cabinets. I was going for a very "old fashioned" look, and I didn't want to introduce yet another metal color and finish. Also, I had some ORB(cabinet hinges) in the room, as well as a pewter colored chandelier. My range is SS, and the sink is an off-white farm sink. The counter tops are Verde Peacock (medium green very similar to Uba Tuba).

The kitchen was finished a couple of years ago, and the wood knobs have held up very well. They are large and deep enough that you don't scratch the cabinet fronts when you open the cabinets.

I think the contrast of black would be great. Is there a style that DH WILL go for?? something with a little less going on? Can't wait to see it all together - sounds beautiful!

Rich, thanks for taking the time to link to your kitchen which is fabulous, and timeless. You threw in another possibility with the matching wood knobs. I think I will have to bring home several samples to see what looks best.

I think black looks nice with cherry. I have light cherry cabinets with a brown glaze, I would say they are traditional. I went with ORB highlighted with copper.

I have natural cherry, no glaze, in my butler's pantry. We used oil rubbed bronze. I thought the contrast was nice.

Hi--we went through the same thing and decided to go with contrast also. The cabinets are cherry with the next lightest finish from natural, KraftMaid Honey Spice. We were going for a simple, kind of understated arts & crafts style. The counters are dark so it helped pick them up. The knobs are just flat rounds. We got them from a store on eBay.
