Confused!$? Diff between Diamond siligranit and Precis siligrani
Comments (11)I couldn't sort out which of these would be better for me either until I spoke to my stone fabricator about them. (She sells sinks and faucets too so is very knowledgeable.) She steered me towards the Precis for the quilted bottom and drain placement. When I mentioned the front-to-back depth, she compared the actual internal bowl dimensions. They are within 1/2" of each other. The Diamond has the back flange on it so it can be used as an over mount. She said that when they use that sink as an undermount, they simply cut that flange off. Then the two sink dimensions are virtually identical. Both can be used in a standard 24" deep cab. I hope unexplained that well. If not, let me know. I've got a raging cold and am not communicating well today. Btw, she knew I wasn't buying the sink from her so she didn't have a financial stake in the choice. Comments (5)I've only had my Diamond for less than a week, but I'm loving the off-center drain. It's so big (my old sink was about 2/3 the size) that I end up using the right end as the 'business end' of the sink and the left end as the staging area or the drying area if I quickly wash a couple things. I haven't put much back under the sink because I want to come up with some kind of organizational scheme. But I know I'll appreciate the off-center stuff underneath. As a bonus, my plumbing happens to be off-set just the same amount. So the angle stops etc. are directly behind the garbage disposal. I do need to get a dishpan to use for the times I'm not washing a big pot or bowl that I can use as a dishpan, since the thing is just way too big to fill for a few things....See MoreOCD alert: Blanco Diamond cleanup sink with Precis prep?
Comments (9)Another who never noticed curves in the Diamond and doesn't like the grid. For the first couple months (yes, months) our sink was installed, our water pressure wasn't right and we were getting about 1/4 - 1/3 what we should. We had the grid in and it was horrible to get stuff out from under it. We finally took it out. When we had a (competent, local) plumber come out and fix the water pressure (unplugging a filter that the GC's plumber couldn't evidently find, even with the directions and schematic...but I digress) and DH was hot to put the grid back in, so we did. I am the one who does clean up. I still felt things were never as clean as with out the grid, therefore...it's out again. Warning: KAW pic...and not a very pretty one...but function abounds. When working in the kitchen, I often have the rollout drain rack on like that and even without...I don't see the curve. I wonder if it depends on the countertop edge as to how evident or not the curve is?...See MoreBlanco Silgranit Diamond in Anthracite - what accessories to get?
Comments (5)I'm also getting a silgranit - 2 actually, one for my prep sink (large precis) and one for cleanup (33 inch wide SuperDiamond or something like that) - have ordered both in cinder and also ordered the grids - something everyone here highly recommended. But I didn't order the chopping block that fits. Wasn't sure and thought I could order later if I wanted (though now that I think of it, if I have this when sink is installed, better chance the chopping block will fit??)...See Morepseudochef
