need help with installation of pre-hung door

We have always had rubbing in our bathroom door (top corner latch side) since we moved into the house. It has gotten worse over the years and is no sticking so much that we decided to replace it.

We removed the old molding, frame and door. We purchased a pre-hung interior primed door. At first, my husband took the door off the hinges to square and shim. He was having a lot of trouble and after seeing a few videos online I saw most people leave the door on.

So - we put the door on. We started with the hinge side and leveled it out with shims - its closer to the stud there so little shimming was needed. Anyway - it is plumb and level. He also put a longer screw in the top hinge.

So over to the latch side - he tries to close the door and the door will not fit in the top latch side corner. Its like the frame is not wide enough. If you push it through it will go in - but we don't want to end up with the same issues we were having last time.

What are we doing wrong?????

Please help!!

Ruth
