I'm embarrassed to ask...

Well, I decided to try and make an apron (easy pattern) for the holidays. I also bought some cute fabric to make it with, but I have a question. Do you put a fabric back on the apron? The reason I'm asking is the pattern calls for you to make quilting blocks on one side of the front of the apron and there is applique on the front as well. In my quilting state of mind I'm thinking won't that be a big mess on the back of the apron and it will surely ravel as you wash it. Plus the fabric (100% cotton) is so light it won't really protect your clothes. Do you use a light batting?

I am so embarrassed to ask this question! It shows that I don't wear aprons (even though I love to cook) and I have a feeling the answer will be so simple when you all help me out. ~LOL~ But don't worry I'm really laughing about the whole thing, without asking how can a person learn?

Thanks for any help you can offer. I'm hoping some of you have made aprons...

Susan
