Like Moni, I love hardware stores, but the best in the world has to be our local Ace. Helpful people, always have what you need, willing to pool expertise to solve problems, this store is the tops! I even bake them cookies once in a while just to say thanks for all the help.

I do the actual Driving, Parking, Walking into the Store, thing. My favorites are Hancock fabrics, (they have online as well,) JoAnns........their coupons are always in my Sunday newspaper, and a neat place here in Fresno, called Harts for the Home. It's the bomb, but it's local. They have in house drapery people, to-die-for trims, and a ton of fabrics gorgeously displayed. They also check out samples. That's the best, because you can tape a sample on your window to eyeball it for real. Red

I will buy on-line, usually going to what are essentially local quilt stores with on-line businesses as well. One of my faves is a shop near my parents' house. I've gotten to know the owner and I know I can trust her to be honest and to help me if something's out of stock or whatever. In November, she was able to pick a great substitute fabric when she discovered that she didn't have the required yardage of my original choice. Just before we moved to Galveston, my LQS owner back in WI mentioned that she is considering on-line selling as well and I'll definitely go to her first if she does.

Garnet Hill for sure, most of the GH linens are made in Portugal (not the Lilly Pulitzer and other designer stuff, I've never ordered any of those) and are very nice quality, have great and fun prints, last forever and aren't all silky, just crisp and clean feeling. They also have great sales at the end of the seasons and every day they have "Sale of the day" items, you can get some great deals on their sheets when they are on the sale of the day. sandyponder

Without a second thougt, Wild Birds Unlimited.

Other favorites:

Like, Moni, I love the Goodwill store and also Salvation Army. Gary and I collect several things and you never know what you'll find!

Bookstores-Waldens, Barnes and Noble, Borders. I walk in and buy a coffee, pick out a book and "peruse" it while I drink. My daughter and I used to go there for "coffee breaks". I went there one Saturday night and got "hit on" by a cute guy looking for a date. I turned him down. I was just looking for a book. . .

Azzalea said mine-My favorite grocery store is Wegmans!! They are fairly new in Virginia, and they may be opening another one near us!!

After that I seem to end up in Target most often. I love to browse in bookstores, if I have some time and the kids are at home! lol

For atmosphere I prefer Target, but Walmart is cheaper so I do my major shopping there.

Thrift stores and garage sales...Used to be hooked on garage sales, have weened myself off them, only an occasional fix every now and then. I never have sales myself, just donate the stuff to charities, some of the things were even g.sale items.

My favourite store is a local shop called Home on Water St.. They specialize in bath and decorative items. I also like Wheaton's in Nova Scotia. For clothes, Laura's.

I'm not much of a shopper,but i like DAV thrift store,the .99 cnt and dollar stores .Wal mart,for the one stop shopping and any Nursery like Armstrongs,Cordovas etc.
I leave the grocery shopping to dh,he likes doing it,i hate it.
