Emtek Silver Patina on Cast Bronze @ front door
Comments (0)Wondering if anyone's lived with Emtek's sand cast bronze hardware with the SILVER PATINA finish? I'm about to purchase an interior Egg Knob w/ deadbolt for my new front door and the salesguy has assured me this finish will hold up for exterior also. This combo is also about 1/2 the cost of a traditional thumb-squeeze handle-type front door lockset ($350 CAD vs $700 CAD) which suits us just fine as we are at the end of our rope both budget & timing-wise on this reno. I don't mind the living finish idea in general, but I've only seen posts on Emtek's Oil Rubbed Bronze finish, not on Silver Patina, which is very light silver and will be super high contrast with the dark bronze underneath when/if it ages or rubs off. I've got little ones and so the traffic will be insanely high. Thanks! Any and all advice greatly appreciated......See MoreEmtek Hardware: any opinions?
Comments (40)DO NOT BUY EMTEK! After much research and sample comparisons and one trial install I finally made the decision and bought 22 Emtek interior door sets (lever style, oiled-rubbed bronze) for a light remodel of our home. I bought Emtek thinking I was buying premium hardware because they look and feel premium and are priced premium. They are trash! The lock pins on the privacy sets literally twist and fall out every couple months (we've lost several and went through the pain of finding replacements so we could, you know, lock the bathroom doors!). Two levers broke, as in floppy no longer functional broke. On our most used door the finish wore off after about two years. And lastly every single mounting plate loosens and I have to go around and straighten up the handles and retighten every few months (and you can't tighten too much or the lever becomes really stiff and stays stuck after turning - so awful!). Will never buy Emtek, please let my mistake save you from disappointment!...See MoreDoor Hardware-Emtek and others
Comments (3)I have emailed Elegant Locks twice with a question and also called them and left a message on their answering machine. I have yet to receive a reply to any of my inquiries. If this is an example of their customer service, it is poor. My question was if their product is "first Line" or are they seconds. Their prices are considerably cheaper than local dealers and I simply wanted to check the quality of Emtek that they were selling. My assumption must be, since they refuse to answer, that their Emtek products must not be of first quality, otherwise they would have answered this question promptly....See MoreHas anyone painted their front door trim the same color as door?
Comments (13)Resurrecting an old thread - I have been considering painting the door trim the same color as the door. I was happy to see this post that said it was stunning - but I can't find any pictures of this at all (other than some wood doors that have wood trim). Does any one have any pictures of door and trim painted the same color, or is there some design reason why this is rarely done?...See Morelkremodel
