Carpet runner for curved staircase
Comments (2)go to a reputable high end floor coverings retailer and discuss this with them. Especially ones that specialize in wovens and sewing. as long as there is a lengthwise pattern match in the runner, almmost any runner pattern can be made to line up but this can requires alot of angle cutting, seaming/sewing and pattern dropping because of the stair angles and radius'es, which end up consuming exponentially more runner material, and the larger the pattern match the more material is consumed to line up the patterns, because of waste factor in making the patterns line up. Expect alot of seaming or sewing. Expect to pay top dollar ... probably more than what you figure as top dollar. Most people specializing in this type of work will want or require you to purchase their materials. It's all custom work....See MoreReplacing stair railings and carpet runner or painting?
Comments (10)Were it mine, I'd consider having the one single railing on the right side, and on the left side I'd have either the existing two segments of railing or remove the upper section along the wall as no longer needed. Re the left newel post being too tall, I think the installer needs to verify that the railing height is adequate. The railing appears too low to me. I am not sure you understand the complexity of the installation nor the costs involved. I am of above average handyman skills, but I would never tackle a project such as this. Likely costs are in the thousands....See MorePlease recommend a neutral carpet for media room/stair runner. Help!
Comments (1)I'll suggest a tone on tone carpet. brb I think something like this that is textural but doesn't show vacuum streaks. Plus, the texture would be great for the stairs for traction....See MoreDifferent runner on stairs vs carpet upstairs
Comments (0)We’re moving into a new house and changing out the carpet upstairs and on the stairs. The wooden stairs are a red oak that have ambered over time. We don’t have it in the budget to refinish the treads, spindles and railings. But our goal is a darker gel stain and possible white spindles (4th pic, just with carpet). Upstairs we are putting this Mowhawk smart strand carpet. My question is, do we carry this medium pile/padded carpet down the stairs (in runner form), or do we choose a different lower pile carpet /runner for the stairs? If so, how do you pick a runner that matches well and doesn’t look strange when they join at the top of the stairs? Thanks!...See Moreroarah
