I don't think I've ever seen those before. I like them!

I've wanted some of this variety for years. The price has held me back, but I should just go ahead and go for it! They sure are pretty!

I have some wild chives in my herb garden, they sometimes put up a pretty purple flower.

Funny you should post that picture. I was in a New York City hotel lobby this past weekend and they had two enormous flower arrangements consisting of those purple onions. They were gorgeous. If I get around to it I'll post a picture.

Look for ornamental Allium varieties wherever you purchase your fall planting bulbs. Mail order catalogs or websites offer the best selection and there are many different kinds to choose from.

"Globemaster "is probably the most well known, with those 8 plus inches flowers! I prefer the smaller cultivars, myself.

Allium bulbs should be planted at the time you would plant any other of your spring/summer bulbs. I love them!

Lily of the Nile look similar, I have them in the purple/bluish color they are just beautiful. I like the white also and will someday add those too.

That is so pretty - I miss being able to grow cold-hours bulbs and perennials, such as I grew in Missouri.

Are those the same as or similar to Society Garlic? They sure look the same. Restaurants and business complexes use them a lot in their landscaping I suspect because they are beautiful and easy to grow here but ... they smell like a skunk to me and I can't hang out near them for any more than a couple of minutes because of the smell.
