About Lavendar, I dunno. I planted it years ago then let them die out because they attracted so many wasps and bumblebees, along with butterflies, and I simply could not mow around them. So I'm giving them another chance. Mine are in full sun, morning until night.

I'm watching out for snakes, we've had them stretched out against the front door even at night. Or coiled near a water spigot. Or hiding in my Caladiums where it's always cool. Usually Bull snakes, but to me, a snake is a snake!

Texashottie, your dog is so cute. What's his name?

susanka are those the Rockies? or Tetons? Your view of mountains is breathtaking.

Mona - don't worry about the flowers- we don't want you to get bit by an alligator on your behind while you are tending those pots!

texashottie - I have one of those, too! Always in my business.

mary_lu - Your garden is so pretty. I love your screen porch, too. Do you have more photos. We will hopefully be finishing our porch next year, and adding a pergola. I normally prefer an all opened screen on the bottom, unless we are up high and then we use pickets. I have never thought about a small wall like you have with the bead board. I'd like to see a wider angle of your porch.

You guys have wonderful views and gorgeous plantings! We're just redoing our yard, trying to get it low-maintenance and a woodsy feel. Your landscapes are my dream garden!

cooperbailey, the mountain is Greenhorn Mountain, tallest peak in the Wet Mountains, which are part of the Rockies technically. We have a lake view too, but no photos.

texashottie, your photos made me miss my critter, a 17-year-old Maine Coon kitty who didn't make it with us to our new house. And shouldn't that anole be thinking about turning tan/gray to disguise himself against the sill? Maybe he's a slow thinker!

newhomebuilder, in what part of the US are you located? Your fall colors photo makes me more determined to take an October trip to the East somewhere.

Oh, my goodness! Why do any of you worry about interior decorating, when you have such beautiful exteriors! But I wish you'd tell us where you live. I'm so jealous!:)

cooperbailey, what I also haven't taken a picture of is the wind, which on this ridge gets to be gale force sometimes. Makes the birds happy though, practicing their soaring, that's the only good thing about it. Sometimes you could almost surf on the lake!

luvnlife, where do you live? And what are the beautiful purple and red flowers down by the lake?

I just want to dive in and swim to the floating platform.

Bronwyn, do you live in a small town? Having the Church to look at in the snow does make it seem like a Christmas card.

If I lived in town, I'd want to live by the two churches there which are very old with beautiful tall steeples.

Luvnlife, do you ever worry about snakes in the pond? Our ponds have water moccassins which are very poisonous.

Everyone's views are beautiful, whether a yard, a street or a vista. We are all live in such diverse areas.

Here is the view that I see out the side door of the office, if I sit at the desk, it is to my left. I took the picture as the sun was getting bright so it made the room look dark which is definitely is not. The blue of the pool didn't show on the photo as well as it does in real life so I also put in pictures from another angle of what I see.

The office is just off the entry of the house and when you walk in the front door you look directly out to the pool and beyond. Hardly acreage or hills but it is nice to look at.

The "golden" is visible in his bed that is in the corner by the door - he loves the glass going so low so he can watch his yard.

susanka - I live in the south. NE Tennessee. Pretty lake!

When I was a kid, I had a book called "The House of a Hundred Windows" and every single window one looked out on an entirely different landscape. That book is what scrolling through these views makes me think of. I want to live everywhere.

I live in a small city in the upper South...our neighborhood is one of the best collections of uninterrupted Victorian era townhouses in the country, and began to be seriously restored in the 70's. There are mansions and carriage houses...we are somewhere on the more modest end of in between. Although I envy those of you with those lovely yards and expansive views, I feel very lucky to be here!

Perhaps we should start a clearinghouse for home-exchange vacations in each others houses!

Mona: We live in south central WI...The "red" flowers are purple wave petunias and will fill in the entire space in a month or so..EASY gardening!:) And the purple ones are Walkers Low Catmint....also easy to grow.

Oakleyok: Yes when we moved here I saw something swimming across the pond from my kitchen window and ran out to find a 5' long fox snake (not poisonous but ickky nonetheless!!!) However, with 3 teenage boys and all their friends in the pond, we haven't seen a snake in 7 yrs now! There are tons of bluegill and bass tho, so you have to keep moving, because they are very curious!!

Yup, that's a real pug. He is quite the character. Right now he is standing on the door to the open dishwasher with his head inside trying to lick all the dishes clean.

Here is a view from the sofa, cause' I'm to tired to move after painting all day. The lr is on the second floor and has a wrap-around view of the treetops. We have had over 50 species of birds visit over the years!

Oh you poor thing. I'll be in your position next week when I start on my daughters housew. Any tips? How is your paint looking? :)

barb5 - The pug seems to mesh with the concrete, so i couldn't tell. My JRT also gets up on the dishwasher to lick them clean for us. lol

Newhomebuilder, when I grow up, I'll move to wherever you are living now:) That fall picture is just gorgeous, picture-perfect! Is it expensive to live in your area?;) I'll show the picture to my hubby and tell him that's where we are going to retire.

Guys, I fell asleep watching TV and forgot to bring in my hummingbird feeder this evening. We heard a clatter, which I'm sure was a bear; it's taken apart. Made me realize I could show you a couple of fairly unusual photos we got a month ago when I did the same thing. This is a lesson in what not to do if you live in bear country; I owe the little yearling cub an apology. DH ran out and got the broken feeder so it wouldn't bring him back, but of course didn't take time to bring in the camera. So here are the photos. The vertical line down the middle of the photos is one of the posts supporting our deck, with these stairs and a patio below. I was posting on another forum and realized you might like to see these. Again, a lesson in what not to do; this is not fair to or good for the bears.

I should have said these are the photos from last month, because DH didn't bring in the camera tonight.

rich69 - Depends on what you mean by expensive. If you live in California, you'll think the house is a deal, here. If you live in South Carolina, you'll think it is expensive to live here. Houses in our neighborhood range from patio homes ($450) to very large homes ($2.5 million.)

nhb, I am painting two cabinets from the 1960's - very retro and Jetsony. I am trying for the first time a stainless steel paint. So far it look .....gray :( I'll post before and afters when I'm done. Good luck with dd's house! Tips? Love my spray gun! Almost impossible drip. Your fall view is spectacular. It's my fave time of year.
susanka, I usually love the outdoors but those bears scare me! And loribee, I wouldn't know what to do with all that sunshine. So pretty!

deedee99, they scare me too. The lady next door had a mountain lion on her roof a few months ago (confirmed by the Game Warden here). I've moved my feeders to the deck, just finished it today. There are no stairs to the deck, no bear worries up there.

I still long for your view- lions and tigers and bears-who cares!
I love all of the views the farm, the woods, the cottage garden, the pug- but miss the wide open spaces of the West. I will probably end up in the west somewhere.

coopb, I got a small Wagner spray paint gun for about $80 at ace hardware. I am amazed how little paint is uses to cover. I have used both latex and oil based in it. The latex was a breeze to clean, the oil based a pain. I had silver fingers (from the stainless steel paint) after I cleaned it with paint thinner and inadvertently sprayed a cabinet while cleaning it....but I still love it!

deedee - Oh yes! I'm a SoCal girl, so it's still new for me and I'm in love with the woods around our home. It's always changing and always so pretty. I love when it snows like that.

This is the view from my bedroom window; looking south past the Hollyhocks toward the Pecan orchard. It's the first thing I see in the morning.

6:30 a.m. out our sunroom window. There's a story that goes along with the deer. We live on over an acre of woods and have had terrible problems with the deer eating my plants. This year DH has been using spray and this guy won't cross over the log into the sprayed area. He looked longingly into the yard but wouldn't take the plunge! Yeah!

Here's another picture I took this morning. I can't see this area out the kitchen window because it's lined with Oaks and other big trees. So I went outside the gate to take it.

I call it The Queen's Walk. heh. It loops around the back part of the acre near the orchard. There are so many trees I can't take a full picture of them.
