Not a fun week so far....

Sunday my dryer broke down again...Just this past year we put a new motor in it and new felt that goes around the drum (for it to spin around on) and new rollers in the back on the bottom.

Monday I was at my daughters they have a small hill at the back of the yard...I was walking down it and stepped on a bird house that the pups had drug over...The bird house broke and I fell flat...didn't even have time to try to catch myself..which was a good thing because I might have broke a wrist or something.

I spent the rest of Monday , all day Tuesday and Wednesday hurting. I hurt inside. Still do a little but feeling pretty much back to normal.

Tuesday Denny wanted to go shopping for a new washer and dryer...I went with him but sure didn't feel like it..getting in and out of his truck was pure pain.

We really don't have the money to blow on a washer and dryer....so I told him I didn't want to spend the money when he hadn't even looked at the dryer to see what was wrong.

Turns out the little metal tab that is on the switch broke off...$30.00 for a new part and the dryer is working like new again.

Today, the first really hot day we've had...the airconditioner broke...It's hot in here....

Jeff is sleeping in a tent outside because it is twice as hot outside.

A friend of our son-in-law is coming over sometime tomorrow to take a look at it. It's really not so old but the dog "leak" on it all the time and it is rusting before it's time. Sure hope we can squeek another year out of it...and maybe get a good buy on one after the "air-conditioning" season.

Tomorrow is my oldest daughter Criss's 41 birthday....and I'm only 49...how can that be?

Things will get better....

Ahhhh (((Patti))) I don't like that you were hurting so much, inside, and didn't get checked out...please be careful with that! Sure glad the dryer was a cheap fix. Hoping it is just a glitch with the AC. (I turned ours on for the first time this yr yesterday, and for some reason it tripped the breaker!! I was so scared there was something major going on...waited for Dean to get home from work so he could check...he flipped the breaker, everything started and haven't had any more problems (praying hard!!!) ) We have 90% humidity right now..windows are fogged/wet...hoping it is not that humid there for you!?!!

So sorry to hear about all your mishaps. Hope your feeling better soon, if not better see the doc. It seems like when it rains, it pours. I was not as lucky as you getting your dryer fixed with a cheap repair. Our lawnmower took a c..p two weeks ago, was not going to be a cheap fix, it would be well over 500.00 to get it up and running again, and that didn't include labor which our son could do for us but hubby thought we should just get a new one, other one was 9 years old. I hated to, I hate spending big money. Oh well I guess that's how it goes.

Thank you everyone! Sorry, I forgot to post a picture of my cake! I'll post it here later on! I was very tired last night and forgot about it. Shirley, I do have seeds for some host plants already started or have yet to plant. I have common, swamp, tropical and poke milkweed, fennel, rue and parsley seeds too. Bev, I'm hopiing to get all sorts of butterflies in the yard this year! I usually see the swallowtails and many other types (including a hummingbird moth) but rarely the monarchs come into the yard. I did see one while out walking though last summer and it appeared to be a female laying eggs on the common (wild) milkweed plants! Keeping my fingers crossed! Now I'm off to go check my containers! If you are going to use this pesticide, you need to apply it BEFORE the 'season' for thrips really kicks in. It is a systemic chemical and requires a big head start to get into the plant's system. Be SURE to read and follow all instructions to the letter when using such a product. I'll attach a little informational link to help you better understand how it works. One thing that you will probably not find on the label, however, is the fact that the active ingredient (Imidacloprid) ends up in the nectar and pollen of flowering plants. This is probably not the best scenario for pollinating critters such as bees and many others. They say that the fruits are safe for human consumption. By the way, it's a good question! I'd really been wondering when the redbuds would show that first blush of color and finally .... just in the last day or two, they are showing up along the roadsides. A deer visited a few days ago and snacked on some of my tulips :( but the ones that are left are beginning to bloom and they are beautiful! Phlox is now blooming and the hostas are growing fast. I'm now pretty sure that the tree that I thought might be a crabapple is just that, and it looks like another small tree is a redbud (yay). It's fun discovering what's growing here, now that the weather has finally decided to warm up. A neighbor said 12 wild turkeys were in our yard the other day, but we were at work so we missed seeing them. The street we live on is called Turkey Run Drive, so now we now how it got its name :). Oh, and one bit of good news .... they started the dirt work where the building will go, and when they stripped off the bermuda grass the land is mostly nice dirt, with only one little strip of red clay running through it. This may have once been farmland, or a pasture. So that's good news for the vegetable garden. Suzie

Monday--appt. with my urologist (he released me, tests were all good and he doesn't want to see me unless I have more kidney stones); ran to the bank, laundry, then DH and I had our regular check-ups that night. Yesterday--had to run to the nursing home for yet another loose end to tie up, puttering around here. Then DH and I went out to grab a quick dinner and make a Home Depot run to get paint chips for the living room (finally picked out furniture, need to paint now, before it arrives). Today? Mostly spent the day clearing the driveway and sidewalks. And another foot to come tonight--YUCK! Did call the Surrogate's Office to postpone my appt. from tomorrow to next week--that will will wait. Hope DH filled the snowblower with gas when he got home. I like to get it done while he's at work so he doesn't have to worry about it when he comes home.

Oh Patti, that must be uncomfortable without the AC right now. It's warm here, above 80, at 6:00 AM.

I know, your temps can be as high as ours.

Hopefully you have some fans, to at least have a breeze?

Here's wishing there are no broken bones, and the pain will go away soon.

Feeling much better today....now if we could get that air conditioner fixed...I could get some of the house cleaning done that I didn't do M,T,W,and Thur.....whew...it's muggy (had a couple storms pass through last night.

back yard is all muddy again...dogs are tracking making more mess...yippy...!!!

Patti--they say bad things come in threes. You fell, dryer broke and air went out. That's three. Now you get three good things happening. (I just made that part up, but it sounds good, doesn't it?)

I was in your place two weeks ago. My ac cratered and it took 6 days to get it fixed. Whew!!! S.W. Texas is no place to be in this heat!

At least you got some rain. Send some my way. My yard is looking really bad.

Are you still hurting from that fall? If you're still hurting Monday, you might want to have it checked. Take it easy 'til then. How often do you get two excuses for not doing anything?

Aw Patti, I am sorry you are hurting. Getting in and out of cars when you are in pain is the worst and you suffer for it later. I hope the pain goes away soon.

Isn't it always the way - when one appliance breaks down you know that something else will happen to another appliance? Bad things seem to happen in 3's and I will say I think you have already experienced all 3 so maybe you will be in the clear for the next little while. LOL Let's hope so.
