I've been thinking about your daughter all day. I didn't realize her surgery would be so late in the day, but I guess they had to squeeze her onto the schedule... doesn't help the waiting any, though! Continued prayers and good thoughts being sent your way.

I wonder if he had been talking on a cell phone, or texting; or if he had dropped something and was trying to retrieve it... I think the police definitely would have done some sort of field sobriety test.

Hope everything turns out well for her. Such a sad thing to happen.

Update-
She had a long surgery- it took many scres, plates- what else exactly I don't know. The orthopod is hopeful. She went home today. What she dreads most is going home without her best friend. The house will be much too quiet, even though there is another dog. It all seems surreal to her- like a bad nightmare. She is bruised from armpit to foot- The ortho will evaluate more in 10 days.

The man who hit her- he was about 65 years old- I'm not sure he would be texting- too old?? Anyway- he was doing something...

They will be getting some legal advice.

I just to say 'Thank you' for all of you- whom I have never seen, but read about- for saying something to whatever higher power there is- with so many of you, there must be something better to come. If only I could bring her back what she wants the most- but I am helpless to be able to do that.
I have laid here thinking how other people can change another person's life in a second- if only this man had not been doing whatever he was doing....

Ilmbg, I'm just relieved your daughter came through the long surgery okay! I have had her on my mind since you first posted. What an awful time she is going through, but now she can begin to heal. Bless her little heart!

I didn't get a chance to post originally when you reported the accident but I have been thinking about your daughter. I'm glad to hear the surgery is done and I'll keep her in my thoughts! I'm so sorry about her dog.

ilmbg, So sorry about your dd and her dog. I'm relieved she is out of surgery and mending though. Easily I am thankful she didn't meet the same fate as her beloved dog. Postitive thoughts that she'll be walking soon.

Medicine has sure come a long way. When my nephew broke BOTH femurs (large bone in thigh) a couple months ago, had rods and pins put in through his knees, the nurses had him walking the halls within a few days. He had plenty of pain but he is walking stairs and working again. We are very thankful for that. I hope your dd will be walking very soon.

I don't know what the man was doing to cause him to become distracted. If he is an animal lover his guilt alone would be punishment enough if it was me. Knowing that I hit someone and hurt them both physically and emotionally and killed their dog would haunt me forever. No amount of financial loss would be worse than how I bad I would feel for hurting your daughter.

OMG, so much pain. I am so sorry to read of your DD pain, both physical and emotional. I hope she has a speedy recovery and is able to some how deal with the loss of her dear furry friends.
