So sorry for you and your son family. This truly is a disaster of epic proportions...My prayers going out to all those poor families and fire fighters battling this horriffic fire.

I saw the pics yesterday showcasing the fires behind the stadium. Unbelievable. It's horrific and so scary and worrisome for all in the area.

That is so scary. Thank goodness the family is safe, and I will say a prayer that their home will be spared. My heart goes out to all the people in that area.

That fire is horrible. I have a friend in CO Springs whose house is surrounded by dense smoke, although they have not been evacuated. Friends who had to get out are staying with them. They are hoping the fire does not jump I-25.

Poor kids. Of course they are upset. I hope they get to go home soon.

I have a friend in Colorado Springs. I somehow lost her phone number so I tried emailing her....have not heard anything from her as yet. I pray she is alright as well as your family, drewsmaga, and all those who are going through this tragedy. My son is a fireman in our little town in Iowa so I also pray for those fighting this monster.

i was chceking the maps for friend, but so far she's ok and sil in in denver, unless they're getting drifting smoke? that's awful... went thru that in san diego in the early 70's. ugly yellow skys and we actually had ash, too...

such a frightening and horrible situation, devastation on a huge scale.
We lived in Wheatridge for a few years it is so sad to hear of some of our fave spots going up in flames.

The fire is now 2 miles from Woodland Park and only 10% contained. Son's family left their friends place because they were given pre-evacuation status. The family is at a motel 100 miles from home -- it was the closest place they could find that would let them bring their dog and cat. My 4 grandkids are only 9-14 years old.

When it happened to us on Sunday I found comfort in the fact we ARE insured and we are together and ALIVE! After that it's just "stuff". If you can just survive the stress your home free.....

Yes, nicole, thnnk God they are safe! But it's the stress of being dislocated for who knows how long. And living in a motel a 100 miles away with 4 kids and a dog and cat and not knowing if you'll have a house to go home to. My son & daughter-in-law are awesome and are able to and will be able to deal with whatever happens. The grandkids are kids and stressed out.

It's a terrible tragedy. Hope your family's home is spared.

That's a really bad fire, one of the worst. I heard today that the Flying W Ranch burned. I was sad to hear that. Years ago while on a two week campimg trip, my family spent an enjoyable afternoon and dinner there. Somewhere around our house, we should have a LP record album made by the Flying W singers.

GREAT news! My son's family is allowed to go home tomorrow! The fire is 35% contained. They will be at pre-evacuation status. It's not over yet, but the firefights have made tremendous progress.

The fire "is" mostly over. They have one spot they're letting burn because it's not near civilization. There are little puffs of smoke, where there's a little ash and 1000 fire fighters to watch over it all. :0)

For the people that lost their homes....it's not over. They have bus tours for the home owners to ride the bus and view their homes, but can not leave the bus. The utilities are turned off and they have NOT been allowed to return.

The hotels are full. Reports of car break ins by vandals is astounding! Things like a Mary Kay sample case was stolen.....???? People are NOT unloading their cars after checking in.

My heart goes out to all those affected by these awful fires.

Lived in Woodland Park (now in COS close, but SW). Knew people in your DS area and the many businesses there. What a relief they and many others can go home, and without damage. Even the highway may be opened. The firefighters and other personnel will continue be here for a good amount of time.

I heard too about the car break ins. Plus there are far many more houses which were looted than previously mentioned considered. The State Guard has come in to help with control. Sadly, not all humans have humanity.

I hope that everything goes back to normal for them asap. My cousin lives in an evacuation zone and she has two kids, so they are staying with some friends. I also have 2 girls(4 & 7) so I can't imagine what an upheaval it would be for all of us.

If just one looter got shot, that would probably put an end to the looting.

The fire is 70% contained! YAAAYYY!!!! God bless the firefighters who leave their families and homes and risk their lives to fight these monsters under horrible conditions for days and weeks and months. They are heroes.
