LMAO I remember most of em. The T was cut off Tahni's name the Prof was Damon (a great guy!)KBB is kimmieboomboom, Caroline, JJ and Spunky are at the Treehouse still. Donna & Elle are at OHH Guess we are just missing the rest. I think KBB sent me the card, not sure tho.

Well, Catherine, I was going to let it go, but I just can't. It bothers me that someone thinks I would put my own children at risk. I happen to be a medical doctor (a surgeon) and a PhD. I have also studied and worked in the public health sector and have published university level research in public health and epidemiology. While I don't consider myself an expert in ponding - hence my time trolling this board - I do consider myself an expert in health and wellness. It's what I do every day, and have done every day, for the last 28 years of my life. Over that time I have been presented with, diagnosed and treated pretty much every human disease there is to see, first hand. I also know how serious even minor conditions can become if left untreated or ignored. I am risk-cognizant myself and will teach that same concept to my children when they are older. For my children now, though, I am very risk-adverse. I would never risk the health and well-being of my children, under any conditions. And your suggestion that I have done so is quite irritating to me and, in my opinion, erroneous. Quite frankly, it is simply ludicrous to suggest that there is a potential health implication from being in a backyard pond, particularly one with ample water flow, aeration and plenty of sunlight. I would venture to guess that there is a greater risk of slipping, falling and hitting your head on a rock in your pond then there is in wading in it. That being said, if you feel that there is risk in *your* children being in a pond then, by all means, keep them out. But, don't begin to tell me what to do with *my* children when I am fairly confident I understand the potential risks better than you. Regards, -Chris

My advice: Pollinate with "Exotic Star" If you have quite a lot of bulbs of H.papilio, then you can actually observe sporadic formation of scapes at "unusual time" and then the stem is often conspicuously SHORT. This indicates, that the elongation of the scape had been delayed, so the scape initial "aged" to a degree within the bulb. A good method, to synchronize the appearance of all scapes is, what I found out by chance, to put the containers outdoors throughout summer. Then, at the end of September, new leaves will emerge in Abundance, and some weeks later the scapes will follow, and they will show up with maximal length.

And yes, that is Hugh Jackman. He came to San Francisco in a limited engagement one-man show, and I snagged the paper with this photo as soon as I saw it. Yum! I was once on the phone with my mom trying to explain to her who Hugh Jackman is, because she needed to know who he was in order to understand why this movie review of "Australia" that I had just read to her was so funny--the review said Jackman was so gorgeous that every time he appeared onscreen, the audience audibly gasped and jerked their heads back "as if they had just seen a solar eclipse." This made no sense to my mom, since she didn't know who he was, so I told her to google his name. Over the phone I heard the click click click of her typing. And then... Mom: (GASP) OH!!!!!

Thanks KC, I have been looking for the chrysalis……the parsley is in a raised bed at waist height. I have even scoured underneath the bed. I will keep looking……but the good news is while I was sitting outside yesterday, I saw the Blue Swallowtail flying over and landing on the parsley several times. I went to look and sure enough she laid 3 eggs that I could find. I will check them every day to see what’s going on. debra

That was a Christmas card?

I'm sure some will come and say "oh pooh on you people who have no sense of humor". I certainly do have a healthy sense of humor - often off-color. But Christmas (not Xmas in my book) is a celebration of the birth of Christ. How does this fit, or not mock? No, I'm not "offended" ... hate that term now. I just don't see how this could be a Christmas card. I'd roar with laughter if it was a birthday card for someone or some other occasion, though.

Sorry, sure didn't mean to offend anyone. Was just something I found from years ago here at the KT. It really was meant as a giggle folks, we used to do a lotta cutting up in here. There were times I laughed so hard I cried, literally!

I remember several of those peeps like KBB--the clown, KathyLee, Bug, Spunky, Tahni, Luckeyme, Mushy, Bette (IN ???) , Donna & Caroline (Sask. Canada), Beth & Damon--I believe they're divorced now . Sadly some are no longer with us, sweet Rumer & her dedication to the troops, Punkinhead aka Budweiser aka DoTTie--just loved that crazy women.
Do you still run the SpeakEasy???

I'm afraid you'll find the KT a much different place than what you & I might remember. I found the KT in July 1999. Now I mostly lurk because I found too many people that are just ready to pounce, critise & judge. jmno

There are still enough of us "Oldies" around to enjoy a good laugh. Don't let the others stop the fun. Maybe we can get back to our old KT days AA.

"too many people that are just ready to pounce, critise & judge." Sounds like that is what was said for those of us with a different opinion. I sure expect that the opinions of any friends sitting around my kitchen table would be taken into consideration and not tromped on.

Everyone has the right to an opinion, I support that with all my heart. I have stated I wasn't trying to upset anyone. It does no good to keep stirring the pot on this issue tho. I won't post anymore hineys in the future. I don't want us to squabble over this anymore tho.
