Hopfully will be finishing DD's quilt top, then I have to find someone to quilt it, had one gal that I was going to ask but she is so booked up that I doubt she would be interested...I'm going to have to scout around and see what I can come up with, somebody suggested tying it but I have never done that either but I guess I could learn, who knows maybe I would like it...we'll see, did'nt get to do much "ripping and tearing" yesterday like I had planned...wish me luck....Sue

Thank you Donna for starting this thread. I wasn't able to even get on the computer til noon today.

My goal this month is to try and get the stems appliqued on the background of the Applique In A Day I've been working on forever. If I get that done, maybe I can start on the leaves.

Kate, LOL Sometimes we just have to put our sewing on the back burner and take care of what's more important at that time. Once you're able to enter your sewing room, you'll be able to catch up quickly. Hope your week-end allows you take care of that withdrawal feeling. @:) A funny on me: I had cut fabric for binding, was putting it on and WHAT??? I had only done enough for half the quilt! What was I thinking????? And, I didn't have any left so had to buy more. Ready to finish that today....at least up to the machine sewing it on part. Also bought a pkg of large rick-rack so might play with that too on the hooded towel....if there's enough left, maybe another Diaper Burp Cloth. Did I tell you I was making another top? Yep, it's the one similar to what Jayne was doing. 36 scrappy squares in a 6 1/2" block then using a QST as the second square....2 more borders and the top will be done. It isn't very big but I needed something mindless to do for a few days....and no, of course it wasn't on my list. @:) Everyone have a wonderful holiday week-end! (Nick and Julie planned their wedding around Memorial Day so they would always have a long week-end to celebrate without having to take time off from work. Those kids are something else! Wow! Can you believe it is already the 20th of the month?! I have the latest scrappy ready for binding and I really like how the quilting looks from the back....can't see it so much from the front. Will get a picture after it's completed. Have not done anything more with the Bears Paw but think I'll do Flying Geese for the border when I get to that part. Doesn't look like I even listed the Split 9-Patch that's on the design wall with a few of the blocks sewn together. Bev2009, How'd your company like your wallhanging? Do we get to see a picture of it hanging on your wall? Good luck to everyone.....whether getting ready for retreat, going to Hawaii or just relaxing around your house getting ready for the leaves to change. Although, I think that's already happening in some parts of our world. Please keep Katie in prayer. She has a few new spots as she hasn't been able to do any treatments because her blood was low so they gave her a transfusion a couple days ago. While she was waiting at the hospital, she passed out. Luckily, her husband was close enough to catch her as she went down. It's a real sad situation. SharonG/FL

I'm still doing the finish work on the log cabin quilt, but when you said Marmalade, you plunked my magic twanger. I've been taking advantage of the citrus sales at the market, and my DH has decided the fruit wasn't inviting this year, so I have to make Marmalades too in order they don't go to waste. It has always been a Christmas tradition in this house because that's when, since childhood, oranges and clementines always showed up in the house in bulk. I checked my pantry and the only jar in it is from my daughter, who has already made her Holiday marmalades. After I finish the log cabin and get the paper-pieced blocks together and off the wall (this one is going out to a machine quilter).........I was hoping to start on my all-wool quilt, right down to the backing and batting. However, Sue's 'thangles' are niggling at my brain and I know it's in the future sometime. LOL. Stay warm! Oh btw, I was looking through an 1897 Sears Catalogue and found rolls of pure cotton batting three foot by seven foot long for 6 and 7 cents a roll. LOL.

I will attempt to sandwich and machine-tack (sorta like tying but using the machine) this top that I've finished. It has hand-embroidered squares that my mom made, I came across them recently. I also just finished a lap quilt (64 x 64 inches) for my sister using the same fabrics and one of the squares that I had left over. I did the tacking on that quilt also, I picked out a decorative stitch on the machine and did that single stitch in all the areas you would ordinarily tie. Turned out very nice. When I finish the one I made for myself (90 x 90 inches) I will take photos and post them.

1. Finish graduation quilt (2 rows to go - I miscounted in July!) - rows sewn - Added - then taken off because I added to the WRONG SIDES! need to redo!
2. Photo album cover - DONE!
3. Sandwich at least one UFO & quilt.
Retirement is great - but I still don't seem to have enough time to sew! After Labor Day - move everything out of DHs office, paint, & pitch. (he is SOOO excited about this project..hahaha!) I told him it is necessary if we plan to downsize!

Like petalpatsy, I just want to get back to quilting. I haven't been in the sewing room for ages....no excuses....except I just wasn't interested. Now that the days are getting cooler, perhaps I'll be able to get 'in the groove' again.

I thought I would be the only one giving this answer but guess some of you do have slumps like me. I am so happy to be quilting at all, that if I get anything done, it will be a bonus. Whoopee.

It is hard to quilt when it's hot, especially when there is so much weeding to do. I hate weeds, my sister says they are satan's spawn. Also trying to get the fall veggie garden going, I live in Florida, we have two growing seasons here.

Well, I have started. Today,I fixed a row on my 'Patchwork Boxes' quilt....I had it in backwards so I took it out and put it back the correct way. I plan to quilt this top in sections as it is a large one. On the weekend, I hope to get the border on and then sandwich it next week. My goal is to have it finished by the end of September.

I usually don't post my monthly goals. I write down about 5-6 things I want to try to get done during the month. So here's my goals for Sept.
1. Sandwich sister in law's quilt (Done! yesterday)
2. Buy backing fabric for sister's quilt (sad that this has to be a goal. A trip to purchase the fabric is a biggie for me)
3. Buy border fabric for star quilt
4. Make 2 Birthday block. ( one down one to go)
5. Make last sampler block (only been working on this for over a year).
I know # 2 and # 4 will be done by October but the others????

Most of my stems are down and one leaf. Didn't work on it today.....maybe tomorrow. @:)

I finally finished one August goal - FMQ on Chubby Chicks.

You see, Sharon, I'm not as hopeless as I thought I was. Now to get on to the rest of the pile - maybe July goals?

The chicks are so cute! Someone on another forum just finished one, too. Hers has green pinwheels and bright-colored chicks.

WOOOHOOOO.....I worked on applique today and DGS brought over my Indiana sewing machine from DD's last night. Thought I'd get to sew today, but ...... didn't. Oh well...

Love the chicks!!!!!!!

My goals this month are just to get a bit ahead on the birthday blocks - maybe get them done for the year.
And hopefully to get back into the hand applique BOM blocks.
AND... if I'm really inspired maybe I'll finally start on the Fall wall hanging I want to do!
Oh yeah! I need to do my row for the Row Robin too!

Yikes! better get busy!
