Such a variety of so good food.

There was one in Tampa/Clearwater area, that he had on one of his shows. They specialized in smoked mullet. Was amazed that it was still there, but I remembered it when he had it on his show. And how DS so enjoyed the smoked mullet.

Hi Carol! I just went to the food and wine festival at Disney and they had a lot of displays with ornamental and good tasting edible sweet potatoes. There are so many tasty varieties of sp that is a waste of time to eat the ones that are ornamental. I know I only eat things that taste good,lol Today I harvested some of the purple ones and they look so good and so big! I cannot wait to try them, in fact I am just going to have a small party , I better come up with a good recipe for them! About the leaves, they are edible and you eat them like greens for example in a soup. I have not tried them yet.:) Sweet potatoes are so decorative! look at one of the displays at Epcot And my Okinawa purple inside and outside sweet potatoes. We had some sweet potato dishes at the party, someone made it with spices like curry, it was different and tasty. I also have to try the Mahon variety for comparison with my old Amish Porto Rico bush. I am thinking about the menu for my next party, it is going to have purple sweet potatoes and tomatoes from the garden... Silvia

As much as you love them, do your pets drive you insane at times? Yes, the dog always barks at the wildlife and must be let in and out to chase off deer. It is somewhat amusing, but a pain more often than not. 8. If you had only 2 colors to use inside your house, what would they be? If I were limited to two, I think I would just paint everything BM Linen White, and hang lots of art. 9. Have you been, or are you going skiiing this winter? Yes! My husband, myself, and our kids are avid and dare I say expert skiers. I will ski 18 days this season, at Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, Big Sky, Moonlight Basin, Vail, Wintergreen, and our all-time favorite, Alta. It's not a great snow year, but still a lot of fun. I love to hike to the peaks and chutes and ski down. List your TV watching guilty pleasures. It can be more than one show. We won't tell. :) 30-Rock and SNL. I rarely watch TV and often miss these.

I have no clue what all is in it.....it was made in Mexico so it must be made with the real stuff.One of our Mexican friends wife made it. I know there are raisins,nuts,coconut and candy sprinkles in it,oh and of course some kind of bread....little round slices of bread.That must be why they only make it this time of year....for Lent.I'm not Catholic but I sure like this stuff! LOL! Patti...it does look sort of gross but oh my!It's good!

Peli Peli is one of my favorite restaurants. In fact one of the KT get togethers I had it there. The owner chef is great he comes to the table and tells his story and takes pictures of every one which is played on the tvs through out the restaurant. It's very unique and beautiful inside. The food is fantastic. Every thing I have eaten is good. They have a sticky pudding type dessert that is great. The restaurant is located in the Vintage center which is a nice area. Ihave never had haggis and don't care to. My father used to make a lot of dishes using organ meats and they would make head cheese when there was a butchering. I didn't partake. There's a Cajun name for the organ dish I think it is somewhat similar to haggis. They often used the gut or stomach to stuff the food into. The boudin in Cajun country is a mix of cooked rice, onions, spices and a mix of ground meats stuffed into a casing like sausage. It's wonderful stuff. In some areas they do have a blood sausage and a blood boudin. I don't eat those.

If that's the show that was on tonight...yes.
Tonight was Hightstown diner in NJ..one of my favorites.
Another that i'm sure has been is the Melrose Diner in South Philadelphia. (and I was born in the hospital next door).

I'm watching Al Roker on diners, right now.
patti, sure it was Ted Peter's cause when I saw it on tv, I had a flashback to the restaurant, which was in the 70's, and it looked just like it back then and now.

Mullet is a fish, grammahony, that's all I know.

Smoked mullet is a wonderful treat. I have not had any since we left Florida to live in Tennessee... but I would give my eye tooth for some now.

Sort of off topic, but I just saw him at Disneyland! No one around me knew who he was. He was coming around on one of the Pirates of the Caribbean boats. I leaned over the rail and yelled, "HI GUY!!!! I love your shows!!!" He smiled and waved at me. ::Sigh:: People looked at me like I was nuts! LOL! He had his sunglasses on backward, just like on his show. : D

Once he featured a falafel place in San Jose, Ca. that served banana shakes. DH and I used to go there all the time when we were dating. We worked together on an ambulance there and that was a favorite stop for us.

Hubs and I often go to the Napa/Sonoma areas on little 3- to 4-day vacations for wine tasting and relaxation. On the House Specials, Episode DV0108 episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Hank's Creekside Restaurant in Santa Rosa was featured. On Retro, Episode DV0109, he did a piece on Taylor's Automatic Refresher in St. Helena. American Cookin', Episode DV0112 showed the Russian River Pub in Forestville; and Talkin' Turkey, Episode DV0207 introduced us to Willie Bird's Restaurant. We've been eating at Taylor's Automatic Refresher for years -- long before we ever saw Guy's show. But, because of his show we decided to try Hank's Creekside and Willie Bird's. Those two are now "regulars" for us on every trip to wine country. The food is great at all of them.

We've been planning on going to the Russian River Pub, but we just haven't made it to Forestville when it's been time to eat. We'll get there, though.

He also featured the Squeeze Inn here in Sacramento on Burgers, Episode DV0107. That's in our "lunch rotation." LOL!

Guy is half-owner of the two Johnny Garlic's restaurants (one in Windsor, the other in Santa Rosa). We always have dinner there at least one night (sometimes more) every time we go to wine country. LOVE IT. He and his partner also own Tex Wasabi's -- one of the two restaurants is in Santa Rosa, and the newest one is here in Sacramento. Haven't tried it yet, though, but we're planning on trying it soon. Great stuff on the menu!

How BIZARRE that you posted this!! I've been wanting to ask the same thing!

DH and I are going on vacation in a few weeks, and we recently saw Guy feature a place in Kentucky. We looked it up after the show, and we are going to stop there and eat!

He is in Pittsburgh this weekend... filming at seven places.

DH and I have only been to one of the seven, and we hope to try the others in the near future!

Just ate at Ted Peter's last week..I usually hit it once a month. It's about 9 miles from my house. Always a crowd-rain or shine!

Almost every diner he featured in NJ. We are the kings of diners...there are at least 15 diners within a 10-mile radius of my home.

Woody loves smoked mullet from Ted Peters, he tries to get there when he can. Personally, I can't stand the smell of it.

One time in St. Pete, Woody threw the cast net and caught 58 mullet in one throw! He had to get help to pull it all up, it was over 150 pounds. He and his mother then spent the rest of the morning cleaning fish. Ugh.

Wait, I see he was at Silk City Diner in Philly and I have eaten there but I think it was before it was 'revamped' to what they showed on DD&Ds.

I love to watch Guy's shows. It's really stressful to watch them if you're hungry. LOL I've never been to any of the ones he's featured yet, but I intend to. I watched him win his show on the food channel competition last year. He's soooo good with people.
