An update - had another blood test....

For those of you wondering, I had another blood test today. They like to see the beta HCG level double every 48 hours. Since my level was at 289 Wednesday, it ideally would be around 578 today. Well, it was a whopping 798.

So at this point, it's very possible there are two babies. I dont go in for anymore blood tests and will now have to wait until my ultrasound on June 4.

A number that high at only 11 days past a transfer is likely twins. We shall see.....

Sharon: THANK YOU FOR THOSE FANTASTIC PICTURES !! I also did red-cabbage test today Sat. 7/25/20. Distilled water boiled in red cabbage is actually acidic according to on-line info. "Pure distilled water should be neutral with a pH of 7, but because it absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, it's actually slightly acidic with a pH of 5.8." From your pictures above, the grayish blue solution is alkaline with pH 7.5. My pH 7.7 clay is a bit bluer (tested by Earth Corp. soil testing company). Black, gray, or clear solution is neutral pH .. means it's a fantastic buffer (good for plants). I tested COMPOSTED grass clippings and it's clear water above black solution. Buffer is great to neutralize the acidity of rain. Clay buffers better than sand/loamy soil, but the best buffer is composted organic matter. Coffee is also a buffer (at first pinkish, but after 20 min., it's a clear solution). COMPOSTED plant-matter is very alkaline and neutralizes acidic rain well. COMPOSTED leaves decompose to alkaline pH, when I stuffed a bunch of leaves in LOAMY & fluffy soil .. the next year that got converted into HARD CLAY, very alkaline. Green grass clippings stay fluffy longer (more nitrogen & more acidic). Brown leaves are considered "carbon" in a compost pile, and decompose to alkaline pH & hard like clay. My tap-water in red-cabbage is VERY BLUE, it's at pH 9 as stated on village's website. I also tested baking soda and it's more blue than my tap-water. I tested paver's sand or yellow coarse sand, and it's slightly alkaline. I tested composted manure and it's very alkaline (from the lime added to deodorize and kill weeds in the bag). The pH of composted manure is just as alkaline as my clay at pH 7.7. Your LAST pic. is slightly acidic. Rain-water is even more acidic & reddish purple. Rain water here is pH 4.5. I also tested some drops of vinegar and it's fuchsia red around pH 3. All my rooting-soil for cuttings are black or clear solution at neutral pH (they have lots of yellow sand or vermiculite mixed in). The clay taken from diseased & black spotted roses are slightly acidic, rather than blue like my pH 7.7 clay. I had tested 5 different roses with black spots in the past, and the soil taken from the root level is pinkish in red-cabbage juice. It's either acidic rain can't drain well from that spot, or else there's NOT enough buffer to neutralize the heavy rain going down.

General forum: Please keep subsequent posts on the same topic in the same thread rather than starting a new one. It will keep the information all together and save all of us time and effort. Water analysis: The numbers don't add up. Hardness alone is over 100 ppm, yet TDS is listed as 100 ppm. Are you certain you didn't drop a digit somewhere? If transcribed correctly, where did the analysis come from? Dissolved CO2 in well water would be odd. Given the amount relative to hardness, do you mean CO3, or perhaps M-alkalinity? Pressure switch/pump/tank: pressure relief valve location should be protecting the tank. In it's current location it cannot necessarily do that. As to the pressure settings and potential pump and tank replacements, you can get the best of both worlds with a pump that has a variable frequency drive to maintain more constant pressure and improve pump life. It also won't require a larger tank. Aerator: I am retracting the sparger suggestion I made earlier - your iron is WAY too high for that to work at all. You can install your bubbler pipe, but it won't accomplish much as it won't provide much surface area for air/water contact. Most of what the aerator accomplishes will happen in the air at the top. Katalox light filters, sizing: Your parts spreadsheet isn't working today (lots of rows are hidden) so I can't see the size of these filters. However, according to the manufacturer's specs, you need 4.78 cubic feet of media for the 8 gpm your pump puts out, with 40% freeboard, that would be two 14" diameter x 65" tall tanks. Katalox filters, chemistry: Additionally, inlet water pH needs to be at least 7.5 for good iron removal. 8 would be better. If you don't increase pH, you will have iron bleed from your iron filters. That will foul your softeners. Katalox filters, design considerations: Stacked tank/mid-Vortech. This would be an extraordinarily bad idea. The tanks would either have inadequate freeboard or be so tall you would need a ladder to reach the control valve. Backwash rates would either be inadequate to remove solids from the Katalox or too high for the softener resin. Regen/backwashes would be too frequent for the resin or not frequent enough for the Katalox. Put the thought out of your mind if you want both systems to function properly. Softeners, in-service operation: How much water do you expect to need at once? Unless it's truly copious amounts, I would switch to a twin tank softener - two tanks, one valve, operating one at a time with no hard water during regen and the added benefit of soft water backwashes and rinses. Softeners, regen: You do not want counter-current regeneration. While it is true that there can be some benefit to counter-current regeneration, those apply only to packed bed softeners in residential application or in commercial/industrial demineralization applications. In a more standard softener, counter-current regen leads to inadequately regenerated resin due to irregular flow patterns if the flow rate is too low, or fluidization with resin loss and poor regen if the flow is too high, or both if your water temperature change seasonally. With potential for iron in the water going to the softener (let's face it - at some point it is bound to happen), counter-current regen schemes will result in poor removal of solids. Softeners, resin: Am I correct in assuming your resin choice was driven by lower salt use? If so, be aware that if you want to operate your softeners at the low brine rates that will result in that lower salt use, you may need to increase the size of your softeners because the lower salt dose will decrease softener capacity. Further, depending upon how effective your iron removal is, you may need to regen at a higher salt dose to adequately remove any iron that bleeds through. With the current water pH, you will need to regen with a salt dose of 8-9 lb/cubic ft of resin and more frequently than capacity would otherwise indicate. Carbon filters: What are you trying to remove with these? Typically, for whole-house applications, a GAC backwashing filter is more appropriate. If cartridges are really what you want - change filters every six months lest they become bacteria havens. Micron filter: It's not hurting anything (other than possibly becoming a flow bottleneck), but what do you expect this to remove? Regardless, change filters every six months whether they appear to need it or not. Drainage: Entirely depends upon how it is all connected, line diameter, and length. Backwash for the Katalox runs at a pretty high flow rate. Additionally, if you are relying on the pressure from the backwashes/regens to drive the water to the pasture, then you will need check valves (possibly I am misreading your intent here - the drain/pasture/outdoor lines discussion is a bit convoluted). If any of those lines are above ground, you will want freeze protection. Water heater: The plus actually works out if you do the math. You will still have to adjust at point of use, but not nearly as much. The 36 is capable of heating 3.75 gpm from 55 to 120 degrees. You have two fixtures running, each using 1.88 gpm hot water, plus 0.56 gpm cold water, for a final temperature at each fixture of 105. Now, somebody comes along and opens another fixture using 1.88 gpm of hot water. With standard control, your water heater is now putting out 5.6 gpm of water at 98 degrees, and your fixtures each now get 1.88 gpm at 98 degrees and 0.56 gpm at 55 - temps drop to 88 at each fixture with the same total flow rate. With the plus, the water heater still only allows 3.75 gpm, but now that water is distributed to three fixtures instead of two each receiving 1.25 gpm of 120 degree water, still mixed with 0.56 gpm of cold water - final temperature = 100 (but your fixture total flow drops from 2.4 gpm to 1.8 gpm).

It’s a little of both Chisue. Our Oncologist(s) have all told us that there have been many many new medications to help control MM. And while the number of younger people getting the disease has increased, the remissions are lasting longer and longer as well. DH was 48 when he was diagnosed and has been in remission for 6.5 years. At that time the average remission was 3-5. They are even starting to think of it as a long term chronic illness as opposed to “cancer”. But here’s the thing, if you haven’t already, now would be a good time to evaluate your diet and shift your dietary thinking from just “healthy” to “healthy and immune building”. It’s crucial because even though the maintenance drug you will be taking is low dose, it’s still going to quash your immune system which can and will make you more vulnerable to other illness. Having a diet that focuses on immune support really does help. Another thing you can do to help your body is to switch to a vegitarian diet. Animal protein can be hard on the kidneys. Switching to a plant based protein instead will keep them healthy too. Foods like Garlic, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries and seeds or more commonly known as G-Bombs are all immune builders. Avoid Dairy products that are animal based as well as foods with sugar, yeast, or fructose syrup in them. If you do a search for G-Bomb foods you will find more information on it. It works.

Wow, I can imagine how fearful you were to go under general anesthesia, especially with hemorrhaging and dropping blood pressure! But thankfully you were at the hospital and in good hands. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, which may have been a fetus medically, but was of course, a potential child, to you and your husband. The fact that you did get pregnant naturally, is a good sign. It means that you are not infertile, so I'd think your chances of a successful pregnancy, whether natural or through IVF, will be great, since you have proof that you were able to conceive. Take the time you need to recover physically and emotionally, then look forward to planning your 'rainbow baby,' with all our best wishes!

Thanks for the update. Makes me have chills. My niece went through similar procedures as you. A single birth (boy)for the first go around, and one of each for the second time. Good luck no matter what. We just want healthy baby(s) and a healthy mama.

How EXCITING! I can't believe it.....after your email this morning I have thought about you and your mom all day! You 2 are going to be sooooo busy! LOL.....this is the great! It's wonderful that this pregnancy has such good numbers. I remember how scary it was when you were first pregnant with Grant. This pregnancy will be a breeze!

Yay, Steph! My niece and her DH had the same procedure done. "We're" having twins, one of each in late July or early August.

Hope you either have two girls or one of each. One of each would be great. Grant would get to experience having both a brother AND a sister.

I have to admit I'm nervous about the idea of twins, but we knew it was a possibility when we did IVF. We would be happy with one or two.

My calculated due date is January 30 but I'm sure once I get farther along and see how the baby/babies are growing, they'll adjust that date slightly.

I actually already have one boy name for sure, and one almost for sure girl name so I dont think names are a problem unless it's 2 boys or 2 girls because I dont really have 2 names. Actually I have a few girl names, but Brent doesnt care for them. I only have one boy name.

So, if I have a boy, he'll definitely be Blake (not sure of the middle name yet) and most likely a girl would be Cameryn Paige. I also love Reagan (Brent thinks its so-so), Peyton, Makenna and Leighton (pronounced Lay-ton; rhymes with Payton).

Angela, I mostly see Cameryn spelled Camryn but for some reason not having that E in there looks funny to me. I guess I thin of the boys spelling (Cameron) and to make it more feminine, I just used the Y instead of O, so it makes sense to keep the E.

Sounds like good news! My DB and SIL did some kind of fertility treatment and they had twin boys added to the boy they already had. You'd never know the twins were twins though - one is short with red hair and the other is a tall blonde.

How nice. My sister had twins and I always wanted twins myself, for some reason. The youngest of my four is now 35, so I don't think they're in the cards for me.

Your girl names sound like the names of a friend's daughters. She has Madison, Makensie (sp) and Kennedy.
They are adorable little girls that I've only seen in pictures.

I think it is hard to name children...

My girlfriends kids are named "Jace" 2 year old boy and "Mira" a 6 month old girl. I just love both of those names. I personally never heard of either one when she named them. Not common names around here.
