Comments (16)Hey, here I am needing help and you were just mocking me, thanks! I actually think it would look kind of cool and interesting. And when I post pics of my finished kitchen with door knob on fridge and everyone comments that was the greatest idea and they've never seen anything so clever and ask all about it, I will sit back and mock you when I reply with a wink and a smile and say "Isn't it so unique? And it functions beautifully! Everyone who comes into my home loves it! Thanks!" Heeheehee ;) I was actually going to use egg knobs on my doors as well but didn't want it to look like an Easter basket exploded in my house. I have been reading and thinking them over. itsallaboutthefood - yes, you are correct, if I make the right wall shorter then I can slide the fridge over a tad and build a panel on the left. However... do I really want to go to all this work for my current fridge? Shorter wall I think will mean the black is even more visible. camphappy - thank you for the measurements. I do not have 3" to spare. Regarding the French door(s), where do you put things you take out of the fridge? Beyond the French doors or behind you? Yes, building and paneling existing fridge would be an improvement but if if I had my druthers and the budget to match, what would I do with this space? Is it really worth the expense to order panels and build a structure around a temporary fridge? EAM44 - it is all about the fridge, thanks for the reminder about the free-standing fridge vs. integrated fridge different requirements. I think that's part of why I am struggling - I can't design the space until I know what fridge I'm using, old or new. The island makes it hard to pull the fridge forward enough and still get the door open. Glad you like seeing the wall colored grey again, I am quite pleased too... Take out wall, insert fabulous, paneled Thermador (not white, definitely contrasting color, maybe match island but probably wonderful pop of new color) fridge. Comments (15)I keep a thermometer in two refrigerators and both their freezer compartments, one in my upright freezer. Refrigerators run between 36-38F, their freezers set to 0 although the KitchenAid in the kitchen will often be 5F, and the freezer compartment in the garage refrigerator as warm as 10F....but I only keep extra ice there and occasionally something very short term. My freezer holds steady at 0. Long term storage of food is recommended best at -10F to -5F up to 0 F, no warmer. BTW - I keep a thermometer in the oven too. Industry standard used to be 'off 25 degrees either way is acceptable' (it may still be the standard although I haven't worked in an appliance store in decades now ;0)), enough to make a difference when baking....See MoreFriday night fun..what's in the cabinet above your fridge?
Comments (52)Like SueB's, one half is set up for baking sheets, cake & pie pans, etc. The other side has a pull out basket with a variety of empty jars and lids, my manual juicer/strainer (you know, lemons and oranges) and an small extra colander. The 2 shelves above all that hold cooling racks, extra ice cube trays, my vintage carving set that gets used once or twice a year and my rolling pin. There is room to spare on the top shelf. My mother and grandmother both had pestle strainers very similar to the one pictured above - used to make applesauce and fruit butters mostly. I don't know what happened to them, probably discarded when replaced with an electronic gadget....See Morerhome410
