Comments (2)oh, nah, it's NE WI, and if you live in the woods you're going to have them. Of course we don't go outside if we see them, but they're going to run unless you corner them, so don't corner them! They were back last night; I was laying on the couch watching tv when motion caught my eye. At first I was trying to figure out who's dog that was until it clicked that dogs don't have round ears! haha! Mom and cub were right up by our front door and so we got to watch them walk around the yard and then mom climbed up the bird feeder again... sigh....See MoreOT Rose breasted Grosbeaks are in MI

Comments (6)I put out nectar, oranges and grapes (not grape jelly) and have both Baltimore and Orchard orioles, Ruby-throated hummingbirds, Gray catbirds, Rose-breasted grosbeaks, house finches, and others eating almost constantly. Cathy, I'm amazed that your oranges aren't more popular, we go through several a day with the orioles and catbirds the main indulgers. My woodpeckers don't eat the fruit at all. elke, no need to add food coloring to either hummingbird or oriole nectar, they will find it just fine without. And I use the same ratio for both as both hummers and orioles eat from either type of feeder - apparently no one told them that the little red feeder is for hummers and the big orange one is for orioles, lol. Comments (4)Caroline- Maybe I should switch some of my feeders from a 'nesting' mix which has added dried fruit and nuts to the BOSS. The woodpeckers really like that mixture. I wonder if the grackles would be less interested in the sunflower seeds. I'd do just about anything to reduce their presence at the feeders and I'm not too fond of doves either. As for upside eating- we have our suet feeder hung upside down and we're amazed at quickly the grackles and wrens learned the trick. Not all of them just some of the more clever ones. We're still waiting for our rose breasted to show up - but it only stays for a day or two and then is on it's way north but while it's here it sits at the feeder for a really long time....See More- 17 years ago
