Wow- that would be scary. I worry about mine at night. He manages a local Dollar General and twice they have had attempted break ins while the staff was still there closing down for the night. My DH is a pretty big guy, but yes, I do worry.

Mine was a police officer, and during that time, I decided to think of him as going to the office. Not my fault, his "office" was on wheels. :)

I had a lot easier time after that.

Really fear and worry don't make one feel good at all.

My husbands work takes him onto rooftops, down tunnels, in large factories and even ductwork in maximum security prisons. He laughs when I tell him I worry about him. He has always said he'd never sit behind a desk and he knows the metro area better than anyone else I know. He'll be retiring in less than a year and in his early fifties.

I worry about him...not because of his work but since he had the stroke...Every day is precious...

And they're all lucky to have us women who care what happens to them, right? Definitely some other husbands with dangerous jobs/situations.

Funny I should see this post. When ever my husband is late picking me up I worry that some thing may have happened. I've been at work waiting a half hour for him and I just got ahold of him. He is stuck on the interstate and is an hour away. Nothing to do but wait and post.

It doesn't matter what the reason/excuse is, it childish or worse to behave like that. If you are not mentally ill you can control how you behave.

When we were first married my DH was a Process Engineer which meant he was in the lab exposed to nasty chemicals all the time. That was before the days when they cared if employees were exposed, it was just business. I was so glad when he became a Product then a Design Engineer and worked at a desk.

My DH is the Sr. Technician in the chemical plant where he works. One night his boss called, and I could tell he was asking how my husband was doing. I made him tell me what it was all about. I guess there was a gas leak in the basement, and he ran down and fixed it while everyone else evacuated. He was not supposed to do that. He refused to go to the hospital too. He's a very stubborn man.

I'm the one with more (frequent) risk on the job though. I get threatened all the time at work by clients, and from time to time they have found my house and come over here. We had to increase security at work because of the aggressive behavior of some of the clients. I'm pretty used to it though.

I do not have to worry about DH on the job. He has a nice, safe IT job. He does most of his job at a desk with a computer and can do a good bit from home (which he does a few days a month). He doesn't even travel. The furthest he every goes is maybe an hour to do an installation of hardware/software, and that's rare.

Still, I worry about him not taking care of his health (he's overweight and inactive), driving in the high traffic when he's tired, or doing something stupid in the yard. ("Honey, please put the hose away before you get out the electrpc trimmer!") As far as work, though, a car accident on the way to/from work is about the only concern I have. And that can happen to anyone.

I worry about my husband, but not on the job. I worry because he had a heart attack 4 years ago. I worry because his youngest brother died 6 weeks ago at the age of 41 of a heart attack. I worry because heart disease is horrible on his side of the family. And yet, I know worry does no good.

I worry about my husband because he is constantly worrying about me. But, I have this problem with one of my feet right now, I have for months, and he has left his work two times this week to come home and checked on me and called the dr. AGAIN today at home. I am not in the best of health (no further details) but the stress is getting to him and I cry alone for him. I love him sooooooo much, I can't stand to see him in worry pain....
I wish I could change things. He deserves better. It breaks my heart. I pray for him everyday. I know that is not your kind of worry, but it is my worry.

He was career military and when he was sent overseas four times for a full year tour to countries which were not stable, I of course worried very much. That is now behind me and I don't dwell on those times anymore.

Now he is retired from the military and has begun an entirely new career which is not at all dangerous, however the freeway driving he has to do twice a day freaks me out. It's a very dangerous piece of highway for driving.

He found a nice, quiet back way to get to work, I feel SO MUCH better and the driving stress for him is now gone - he was doing 40 miles each way in bad traffic. He is much more relaxed going the back (and pretty) way to work. He will only do the freeways now if there is black ice or a lot of snow predicted.

I'm so sorry you have this stress, I remember what it felt like. It's just always there, even on very "good" days.

I'm much more content and far less worried about him now.
