I don't really have much respect for Fergie or anyone that would be selfish enough to sell her own family story to the media. Regardless of how was their relationship, she should have thought of what would that do to her own children.

I'm surprised that Oprah would even invite Fergie to be on her show. Yuk! Sure is not a classy act at all. Nope, I'm not a bit interest to watch.

Maire, it must have been some years ago that you saw her at Macy's, yes? How was the show? Did she talk about selling Andrew's influence? Is that called "influence peddling"? I thought it was illegal, but don't know how much trouble she got into.

The china pattern is Wedgwood SARAH'S GARDEN.

When I purchased a set it was advertised as being created for and named for Wedgwood's wife Sarah.

A few years later it was advertised as being named for Sarah Fergson. And she was promoting it. SOMEONE LIED.

I do not like it as well now as it makes me think of fergie and her ugly ways.

I wonder what Wedgwood's wife would think about the deception.

Thanks soxxx. I couldn't remember who made the pattern and I can't remember why my girlfriend was so determined to purchase a piece of the china. I think it was going to be a gift. I didn't care for it myself. I googled it and someone is selling some pieces and said it was signed in 1999. That's probably the right time frame.

The reason I posted about her appearance is because Sarah is somewhat of a train wreck. You only have to probe just beneath the surface and then she opens her mouth and just lets it out. Perhaps she'll be more circumspect now that she's older although I'm not sure she's any more mature. She was surprisingly blunt at Macy's. We were in a small auditorium without any media and she had just been involved in another scandal- I don't remember which one but it was rather minor- and as she walked around and chatted she made several comments that would not amuse the queen.

As for being a guest on Oprah it's all about ratings and the money that comes with it. Class has nothing to do with it. Oprah's OWN network isn't doing as well as initially expected, the head of the 4 month old network just stepped down and Oprah is anxious to devote herself full time to it. I haven't bothered to watch it but I'm sure she's not concerned about my viewing habits.

I'm surprised by all the antipathy toward Oprah. I rarely watch since she is on at 4 around here and I have too much to do during the day to relax and watch tv, but she has been a good source of information and entertainment over the years. I really don't know what this supposed "class" you are all talking about is. I think Oprah has a lot of class. I am not an Oprah devotee, but I think she and her show have done more good than harm in this world. As for Sarah Ferguson, she is living the life she deserves.

Now we know why Sarah Ferguson will on Oprah, she's going to have her own show on OWN. The following quote was on my Comcast start up page.

Sleeperblues, I agree with much of what you say about Oprah. I will honestly miss her and am trying to catch most of her last shows which I've enjoyed.

I wish her all the best with OWN and anything she chooses to do with the rest of her life.

In my opinion, I think all these public figures are elevated to an unrealistic status in our heads . . . until we see their "raw, uncensored" real-life moments in the media (such as the Judd's on OWN; I almost wish I hadn't watched to see what trainwrecks they are!) Instead, I will try to get my mind back to just enjoying the phenomenal talent of Wynonna's voice.

In real life, these people make stupid statements, actions, choices, etc . . . just like we all do, except theirs are made public for everyone to be abhorred by. Thankfully, you won't see my life's mistakes and misfortunes on TV.

I have great respect for Oprah, even though I don't watch often, or agree with everything she says or does. I have met Sarah F. in person, having sat down with her for over an hour, one-on-one . . . with no cameras rolling, and was delighted with her exuberance for life, love of her family and charitable personality. Like the Judd's, I'm afraid to see how she'll come across on her reality series. Again, I'm glad there will never be a reality portrayal of my dirty laundry :)

I have gone through phases with Oprah. Many of her early shows (I lived near Baltimore) were so"life-changing" for me that I will forever be grateful for the insight and knowledge I learned from her revelations and those of her guests. I kinda got lost in the 'new age' phase and now she has created a place (OWN) where women can continue to gather insight into themselves and the dynamics of their lives and our society. She has helped society to be more open and less judgmental (or at least to think about it) of our fellow-man.

Everyone has a story. Even Fergie. Imagine that 'free-spirit' forced into being THE perfect 'Stepford Wife'. I know how I chafed at being the perfect military wife (during the white gloves, calling cards and hats era)and embraced being the 'perfect mother' but in too many wrong ways.

We know Diana's story, and mostly we admire her because she was so young and innocent and she did try to mold herself into that 'company wife'....then set the world on its ear when she revealed it all...and turned out to be the mother we all admire.

Oh My...was this about Oprah or about how she has filled a huge gap in how we are able to view life?

I saw the interview today and very much enjoyed how real Sarah appears to be - I am sure many folks can relate to having no self-esteem and wanting to be loved. I was raised in a foster home, so I certainly can relate to a lot of the things she expressed.

I totally enjoyed the show. Seeing a 50 year old woman 'find herself' and be so real, and maybe offer hope for those among us who are searching for themselves. It is what Oprah does well.

The searching for herself I can stomach. The way she presents herself as an expert on EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING that I can't deal with. Many of her shows are just plain trash. No one needs to see that!

I have mixed emotions with Oprah like most of you do...some shows are just sooo emotional and helpful...then I read where she flew her entire staff overseas for a vacation...but of course she takes her own plane...(megabucks being spent here...yes she has it...beside the point)...when she gets to the hotel she doesn't like the bed or furniture so she has her own flown over...this woman grew up poor as a churchmouse...obviously she's forgotten her roots...the money she spends could be used more wisely and has tainted my opinion of her...but that's my opinion...and I'm not trying to encroach it on y'all..and then of course are those thousand dollar shoes she wears everyday...If I could just get pass the way she throws money around I'd probably have more respect for her!!

She is so wealthy that a thousand dollars for shoes is a mere pittance. If you are worth a billion dollars, you are able to buy without concern for price. I don't begrudge her enjoying what she has worked hard to earn. But I really don't enjoy her shows any longer. Never did particularly watch, for that matter.

Oprah has always been about Oprah. SHe never met a camera she didn't like.

I'm impressed by anyone who can get millions of people to read "Anna Karenina!" I like her. I think she's done a lot for people. And yes, the vacation and such are lavish but if she can make people's lives a little brighter by lush vacations or free cars or the holiday giveaways, I'm all for it.

Trash? I realize it's been a long time since I've watched her show, but I equate trash with Jerry Springer, not Oprah. Arcy, you and I must have different definitions of the word.

I think the trash comment is pretty harsh against Oprah too. Her shows or at least some of them might not be considered the highest quality but certainly not trash. She must be doing something right to have the following she does.

I saw the show today and thought that Fergie did a great job in trying to explain some of the crap that she has done. She seems to have matured into a beautiful woman and putting more thought into her actions instead of just leaping into a pile of crap.

I don't understand everyone that begrudges Oprah her thousand dollar shoes or her own chef etc etc.....that's what rich people do and she has helped millions of people and even with the OWN network, she is trying to program quality tv....I am not the biggest Oprah fan and sometimes here her make a comment and think, Get over yourself Oprah, but I don't envy her the fruits of her labor. If her shoes are 2 grand......I saw go for it Oprah.

I remember Oprah from about twenty five years ago. I could justify the trash comment because I think Oprah helped bring tv down to the level it is today. She has done some good in recent years, but my perception of her is that she is fake. I really don't admire much about her.

I don't think she actually owes anyone anything. It is her money she earned it. She doesn't have kids to pass it on to so she may donate it for the greater good when she dies or pilfer it away through some organization. Until that time, it is hers and she can use it how she sees fit even if it is wasteful relative to the rest of the world's lifestyle.

I agree with Adella! Oprah and Ryan Seacrest have sponsored some really crappy shows. She has had some really great teaching shows, but certainly has had her share of 'who cares' shows, too.

Ryan Seacrest is from another planet, imo, and his shows are offensive to me!
