Molly (from Las Vegas) was just on and she was tastefully dressed.

Even Chelsea Clinton is there. Thought her hat was a bit much!

What a very sad ending to the race today.
I don't even know why I watched....I always have a fear of this happening. Makes me sick.
Sorry, I know it's a very popular sport, but I am just very sad.

I hadn't watched a race since Barbaro, until today. I was absolutely stunned when I heard what happened.

I'm glad I didn't watch. I lost a couple of bucks on the race.

Luckily, you didn't see her go down like Barbaro, thank goodness.
She was off in the distance, and you could see her down, but no closeup.

Truly sad!

On a lighter note, how do they find all those jockeys? They all look to be the exact same size in height, and of course weight.

This is so sad. Such beautiful animals. Don't see how those skinny legs can support that huge body and the pounding they take. I would not be unhappy to see horse racing end!

I'm glad I quit watching years ago. Used to be a big fan until one of the horses was drugged prior to a race (can't remember which one now) and hit the fence coming out of the gate, had to be put down.

It was such a sad ending. But I didn't know until reading the AOL news this morning, that one had to be put down. I did watch the race, (but from a distance) and saw that the favorite had won.

I luuuvve Mint Juleps; sadly I can't drink them because of diabetes. I enjoy making them and everyone raves so I suppose they're good.

I make my own simple syrup and try to get home grown mint. I'm loving just thinking about them now.

We're not "watching" anything, as such. Wes is in the garage, sanding the entry doors to the almost-completed office and sewing room. After that we're painting the two rooms closets' frames in anticipation of hanging the closet doors. New bifold, half-louvered half solid for the two closets in my sewing room. New 6-ft. sliders for the office closet.

We decided the entry doors were of far better quality than anything we could easily find to replace them with, so they're getting a major facelift and going back up.

I'm also hooking up a new printer, roasting a chicken, catching up on laundry, putting away winter blankets, hanging a blind on the sunporch side of the west bedroom window, packing Mother's Day boxes, and thoroughly enjoying my day.

I told my husband I am not going to watch any more. To have to put a magnificent animal like that down is just too sad. Of course it is sad to me to put any animal down. I wish I could save them all. Sleep well Eight Belles you fought the good fight. Now you can cross over the rainbow bridge and graze into eternity. Vique.
