Comments (2)Tell us where you garden, in order to provide decent advice. These are quite different plants. I grow both (in quantity), and I have enough property to do so. If I knew where you are gardening, I'd be able to suggest "absolutely not that one" or "only this one". Without that, I can't....See MoreWhat kind of shrub is this?

Comments (6)Ditto what Arbordave said about the V. lentago - I have about 5 decent-sized shrubs, purchased as seedlings in 2008. They have just started to flower and fruit this year and last. There is variation in the seedlings, but some of them do seem to get ratty leaves. I would purchase a cultivar that is resistant to foliar diseases. Also, if you are in a region where the Viburnum beetle is active, this could be a problem with these species. The birds will eat the berries before you even notice - so the mess is not an issue. Supposedly the berries are edible for humans too!...See Moreideas?
Comments (11)Two stunning reds that appear frequently on the American Hemerocallis Society's Popularity Poll in several regions are Ruby Spider and Red Volunteer. RS is 7" with a golden throat, non-fading, and RV is a gorgeous, also non-fading red. You can copy & paste this website: http://www.daylilies.org/PopPoll/2011/ Two very dark daylilies are Midnight Magic, a nearly black red, and May Night, nearly black purple. Both are beautiful. A new one (to me, anyway) on the Pop Poll is Persian Ruby, which looks like dark red-purple. My all-time favorite deep dark purple is Bella Lugosi, winner of the Stout Silver Medal, the highest award given to daylilies. I pair it with Moonlit Masquerade, a white with deep purple markings, and also a Stout medal winner. Good luck to you, and now you have to let us see some pics when they bloom (grin)....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
