Outdoor shower?

Hi Kids,

I have just finished a wonderful day of working in the woods and yard. I'm now about to go out for my first outdoor shower of the season. That made me wonder...how many of you have showers outdoors? We have them here so when we come in from the beach or doing yard work, we can shower without tracking sand or dirt into the house. It wonderful!

So, anyone else live by the ocean or even on a farm that uses an outside shower during the months of good weather?

Oh yes one permanent at home and then a portable one for camping trips. An out door shower has been a standard feature at most of my homes most of my life.

I've used them when on vacation at the beach houses we've stayed in. I would like to have one some day.

Most of the lower cost shower heads at Lowes, HD, Walmart, etc are made of plastic, even though they may be chromed. Yes, there are some in 'rainhead' style.

Just saw this question this afternoon. I'm not excited about a sliding glass door in the shower itself, but I have a couple of other thoughts. The house we moved into last year has an outside door that opens from the back patio to the master bathroom. There is no pool, so I'm not sure why it was built that way, but there it is. There are about 2 steps from the outside door to the shower door which is handy if you're coming in dirty (or sandy). Here's a clever thing we saw at a hotel in Hawaii recently. The sandiest part of someone coming in from the beach is your feet and lower legs. This "Surf Splash" is hooked up to a hose and turns on when you put your foot in. It actually works! (For those who don't live near a beach, sand sticks like glue!) Having finally been able to bring up the page with their prices, I see they're a tad expensive. Yikes! https://surfsplash.com/shop/

Not copper because you're worried about theft? This should be an easy plumbing job, but you need to figure out what you are going to do to protect the pipes during freezing weather. A better explanation of how you intend to use this and how you will get water to it is needed f you want better advice.

When I was a kid, we had a shower in the basement. For whenever you were really muddy or smelly after being outdoors. Mom would chase us down there and wait for us with a big fluffy towel.

I once lived in a house that had an outdoor shower house right outside the master bedroom. Every spring I washed the spider webs out and used that shower on very hot days. It had a bench and a light bulb. I added a hook to hang my towel and robe.

I don't yet here but I sooooo want one.....I have kept plans on one I sooo want...one day when we get to stay home more that is probably the first thing I will get done...it would be great in the 100 degree weather and you are gross and sweaty....Stacy

No, never had one. As a matter of fact we didn't even have a bathroom in the house when I grew up. I like a tub better than a shower. Hope you all enjoy yours.

We had a frost warning last night ... so I took my plants in flats inside.

Also had a shower in the middle of the night.

Accompanied by lightning and thunder.

I was in bed.

Didn't feel called upon to paricipate.

ole joyful

P.S. No shower outside.

No shower inside, either - just a tub from an earlier generation.

Have, on occasion, been accused of being all wet ...

... don't remember whether I was outside ... or inside, at the time.

I would love love an outdoor shower, but I don't want something that looks like it's connected with the swimming pool or to use after a trip to the beach. Mine would be a beautiful extension off my bathroom so I could shower, dry off, and step back into the bath without passing the gardener, meter reader, etc. It would be roomy enough for a bench, hooks to hang things, a couple plants. Private, yet outside. Dream on....

Nope, we just come inside to clean up. I'd love to have one, but I don't really need one. Plus there's no good place here for it and it would HAVE to have hot water involved, our well water is so cold.

Years ago we visited some friends vacation place and they had one. It was heavenly.
