Today, What Are You Doing?

I thought I might sleep in until around 8 this morning, but that didn't happen. I no sooner got up and Amber invites me to with her into town. I get ready and we go and then we go to one rummage sale. We didn't buy anything. After I am home a very short time, I get another invitation to go with Cheryl to shop for a microwave. I am off again with my Izzi and her KC. I only went into one store, Deals and bought a few things. She shopped but did not get a microwave. She bought us lunch at Chic Filet. They have the best iced tea. She bought some groceries and of course by that time it is Happy Hour at Steak and Shake. I enjoyed my milk shake! I even brought one home for hubby. I have decided I will not have any supper as I am too full! What are you all doing today and what's for supper?

I just came in from working in the yard all morning.As for dinner,havn't a clue,as DH is the cook around here,but i'm thinking maybe leftover,as we have enough of those in the fridge,and tomorrow is trash day so whatever is left in the fridge gets dumped.
Probably won't go back in the yard til after i pick up GS at 3:00 from school.

It was a runaround day for us. First to the Cigar store to get more tobacco and tubes, then to Petsmart to stock up on cat food and kitty litter, then to the Tractor Supply store to stock up on birdseed and a stop at Walmart for some washcloths for a project I am making for the grandkids. I'm ready for a nap. LOL

Woo Hoo I finally got a log in screen. I do not know what was going on . Was on and off for a couple of days then nothing today. Message said I was not a member then click to have them send password and then error from GW saying that was not functioning now. Sooooooooooooo?????????? WOW I felt so cut off. Now it is too late to try to catch up. The day was so annoying when every board had to be special cut because I did not have a square corner in the pantry. I finally put up two shelves way up high with the empty canning jars on them I might feel the need to put some thing across to be sure they do not tumble if we get a shaker. But then in three years they have sat on the same shelf only lower and no problems. Anyway the day was long and hot. UGH I do not know how you southern gals deal with the heat. ONE day of it and I am toast. I am very happy the whole pantry is clean and I still have half a shelf empty. Not for long. I am sure I can find some thing to fill it. cleaned house from top to bottom again..im decluttering and giving it all to my sil for her annual yard sale..i havent even made it to the cellar or the sheds yet! thats a big mess. made meatloaf from the burgers left over from the boys' sunday nascar for hubbys lunch tomorrow and the rest of the week, talked to my sil she wants to put our car on the road because shes letting both her new ones go back..sad because she works so hard, well work something out because she takes me to work too..lol we all share so its a give and give sort of situation, gotta call my mom whos back in the hospital, and also waiting on a phone call from the lady i clean for to set up next date which reminds me i need to walk uptown to get minutes for my phone..and i still have to water my plants in the greenhouse lol and im wearing heels i havent worn heels in forever its usually workboots..dont know just felt like dressing up today..dh will probably keel over when he walks in the door lmbo as i never have time to dressup at all anymore..i even ironed..omg! then its cooking dinner, but i did sweep the portico out from the nascar race jeeze im forgetting something lol hope you all have a great day!

I had quite a few radishes and beans, plus multitudes of squash and tomatoes come up volunteer in my garden from last year ... when Conrad the landlord tilled last week, I begged him to skip some of the tomatoes, lest I not have enough. He said that there were plenty. I transplanted quite a few into rows on the night before last, just before dark, and watered them. Didn't go out early yesterday to water them, did some cultivating and weeding in the other garden, some of them were looking rather peaked when I arrived a while before lunch on that hot day. Watered them, stuck some boxes over a few to shade them and they perked up some. As I weeded the cantaloupe, put some lamb's quarters - a full tray that in which tomatoes come to the stores - and was sad that there appear to be no cantaloupe sprouted in half of the row. Friend from the investment group called to say to be at his place at five to six to go to the meeting, and he'd like some straw for his garden, so I took him two main bales and a couple of small ones ... he was surprised that I could get all four into my little car (and without one in the front seat) and I had some other things, plus the tray of greens to share ... I said that when one packs for overseas, the rules deal with not just weight, but volume, as well. We picked up the gal who lives near him on the way to the meeting, and did some shopping along the way - I got some cashews and some choc. chips to pass around, which I did ... but forgot the greens, sitting in the corner, until after the break-up and many had left. One guy took some at the after-meeting in the coffee shop. I was to go out to lunch today, had asked a friend who was busy, and called another a couple of times, and had thought to ask Lori en route last night whether she'd like to go ... but forgot that, too. This morning I did some hoeing, watered the tomatoes - I think that all but possibly a couple will survive, and cleaned the car (straw in a car is messy), as I planned to visit Lori's house to see whether she might be interested to share lunch. There's a group at the church that I attended as a child that used to be called the "Senior Men's Coffee Hour" that meets Thursdays through fall, winter and spring. Then they changed their name to "ROMEO"s - Retired Old Men Eating Out, and my suggestion that, as we are mainly drinking, it should be called "ROMDO" - Retired Old Men Drinking Out went over like a ton of lead bricks. Could it be the old Methodist heritage, which that congregation had been prior to the formation of The United Church of Canada in 1925, four years before my birth? Surely not. Anyway, at their final meeting in the spring, they all invite their wives out for lunch at a nearby restaurant, and today noon was the day. Last night when we arrived at Lori's door, I ran to ring her bell, then ran back to the car to move some of my stuff from the front to the back seat ... and she teased me about being like a kid that rings one's bell and runs away. This morning, when I rang Lori's bell ... no answer. Guess she was away (or working - she works part-time ... and makes money on the stock market). The lunch was lovely - I had pickerel - and some teased me about the lack of a companion. So - now I'm on the internet, talking to you guys ... and waiting for my ten-minute warning dialogue box to show up ... it did, while I'd been typing this, and this is the second time of typing it. I volunteered at the hospital. Dinner will be salmon and asparagus. Right now I need to make a backing for a quilt. I finally got the top put together.

Played golf, went grocery shopping, took Georgy for a short ride in the car....she gets car sick so we are doing little rides to acclimate her. When we came home, we played frisbie to burn up some of that puppy energy. Dinner for me will be leftovers from Carrabera's last night. DH will probably have a piece of steak and salad.

Just got back from Virginia...spent a few days down in the Williamsburg/Yorktown/Jamestown area. Haven't been down for a few years, and really enjoyed it.

Not just the country's historical origins, but my father's family is from Jamestown - came here in the early 1600's, so it's my history, too.

We drove, and every time I go down there, i'm reminded of how beautiful Virginia is.

Trading stocks all day, market just closed. While I watch stocks I emailed my girlfriend several times....listened to Dave Ramsey then Dr Laura...watched "The View". Put laundry in the washer. Left a chicken out for dinner. Made tuna salad for lunch. Made plans with photo club to go hiking on Sunday @ 5am. It's snowing outside or I would have gone running....so now I'm gonna work out in my home gym.

Washed, dried and got the sheets back on the bed. Cleaned the kitchen and Florida room. I love my Haan steam cleaner! During my breaks I played on the computer.

Our DGD is getting married next spring and I have started buying them things they will need when I find good deals. They are so young--both graduating from college next year and are just starting out so they will need everything.

Today I got a Macy's sale brochure and ordered her a set of 24 glasses (just like mine). There are 8 each of 3 sizes and we really like ours. ($12.99) Also ordered her a set of Oneida flatware that had a bonus with it so it ended up she will have service for 12. ($99.00) Also ordered a large SS mixing bowl with a set of SS measuring cups and spoons ($9.99) Macy's has great sales! I want to get her a crockpot and a good set of pots and pans and little kitchen things as I find them. Every woman deserves a well-stocked kitchen.

Dinner tonight is baked cod with roasted red potatoes and peas or lima beans. Whatever needs to be used from the freezer, I guess.

Tomorrow's our run-around day. Besides groceries, we need to go to Barnes & Noble because we have at least $100 in gift cards we need to use. I know I want to read "The Help".

I worked in the yard all day today. Came in tired and filthy, i looked like the Pigpen character in Snoopy/Peanuts cartoon.

DH is the cook here, and i think dinner is leftovers tonight, fine with me. Whatever, as long as i don't have to cook it! Sue i used to love to go to Steak and Shake when we lived in Michigan!

Jennava, the Happy Hour makes it even better, between 2 and 4 a.m. and p.m. all drinks and shakes are half price!

Monica, I enjoyed your post about visiting in Virginia. My first trip to that area was on my High School senior trip. I liked Jamestown best. Interesting about your family connection to Jamestown.

We used to go to Williamsburg at least once a year to the Pottery. Is it still there?

I admit to being prejudiced, but I agree as to Virginia being a beautiful State.

I am waiting... not very patiently, for a great-grandbaby :-) I've skipped the step where you wait for a grandbaby (for the moment) because my own kids have yet to make me a grandma. Instead I inherited grandkids from my husband when we were married. Our oldest granddaughter (too young, but that happens) is making us great grandparents (Gary at 52 and me at 55). She's been in and out of labor for a month (started that way too early too) and labor was stopped several times. Now that she's close enough to her due date to go, she goes into labor but it doesn't progress or it stops and they send her home. She was in labor for 12 hours today, contractions every 2 minutes, but was sent home because she isn't dilating and was told to come back when the labor pains were hard enough that she couldn't breathe through them!

Other then that, I'm working the night shift temporarily, so slept from 8:30 am to 2 pm, waited for the baby and fixed ice tea for step-daughter gramma to be, and now am at work again.

I'm on a road trip. Got a great deal on a full size car. When I got to the counter they had just given it to someone else so they upgraded me to a Nisson Altima Hybred. Leather seats,sunroof,the works. It took less than a quarter tank to drive almost 200 hundred miles. I like the car but it has the tiniest steering wheel. The back of my hand keeps hitting the windshield wiper lever.LOL I'm used to trucks.

Tonight I went to a farmers market in the area. More like a street fair really. They have all sorts of vendors and community info booths along with the regular agricultural stuff. It is a small world. I ran into a friend of my son who owns a small business there. It was fun to see him. I also met a gal from a local goat farm. As well as milk and many different varieties of cheese they also sell lotions and things all made there with milk from their goats. I hope to visit the farm on my way back if I have time. If not I will next trip down.

I was the recipient of a random act of kindness. When I turned in my ticket at the exit of the parking lot the lady told me the gal in the truck ahead of me paid for me. Not only that but I got change. LOL So now I will look for an opportunity to pay it forward.

Tomorrow (later today actually) I'm heading further south. I want to visit few spots that are being redeveloped before they lose all their flavor.

Carol in Ca and I are hoping to get together on Saturday for a bit. We always have so much fun visiting. I'm really looking forward to it.

Sunday I haven't decided. It's pretty random which is what makes it fun. On Monday I'm heading home. Picking up a GF on Tuesday and we're going North for a day or overnight if I get tired.
