Why I love this forum, and the dangers it gives

I love this forum because:

I get great design ideas from all the awesome decor mavens!

I can look at others great rooms and get inspired!

It enables me to stand up for what I want!

I can look at it all day and not get bored!

But...

My DH says 'where did you get that idea'

'you want what'

'but you still need to finish...'

Anyone else have this problem???

Ohhhhhhh yeah...lol. I just told hubby over dinner about the inspirational idea of blending moss with buttermilk and painting it on a concrete planter to get the moss covered look. Great suggestion that was given by housewaif in my current thread about my front porch. He didn't even have to ask where I came up with that one!!

This place broadens our horizons, I love it too :-)

A high proportion of the posts dealing with mainstream medical topics are by people who see this forum as a place to denigrate evidence-based medicine. Then, when others respond to false and misleading claims and set the record straight, they are criticized for not sticking to herbal topics. Similarly, when a particular herbal or other alternative remedy is questioned as ineffective and/or dangerous, there are often gratuitous followup posts attacking mainstream medicine, when the original poster has not recommended or even mentioned mainstream treatment for the problem. So, most of the time it's alt med advocates who bring up the subject of mainstream medicine. There are instances where a poster asks about an herbal treatment for a problem, and is advised to seek an accurate diagnosis first from a physician before pursuing any treatment. This is not meant to rule out herbs or supplements as eventual treatment, but some find it unacceptable and threatening to mention physicians in any context other than a critical one. As for ad hominem/personal attacks, the best strategy is to disregard them and only address health-related remarks and questions. Once trolls realize they can't get a rise out of opponents or spark a flame war, they usually get bored and leave.

I agree with a few people here. Its hard to choose. While it would be nice to have finer definitions of area whether by state or zone or what ever. I also like that when you post something it doesn't take several months to hear from someone else. It bothers me that you cannot post to other states forums. I would love to join into some of the exciting conversations that happen elsewhere that are relevant to me. It's kinda like everyone else has 'exclusive' memberships and we are open to the public. However, if things were to be divided I would probably want to hang out on the Delaware forum and lurk the MD forum. Being one of the people on the eastern shore I think the Delaware forum would have more in common with my garden. Ending my rambling I would like to say that I am glad that I have been 'stuck' with you all in the 'open to the public forum' as you are a wonderful bunch to be with. Lettssee

At first I used to trade seeds on the Canadian forum but now I have so many plants I don't know what to do with them all! Also the rest of Canada is a different climate and so far away. Now I go straight to this forum and my other fave is PETS, where I have received much good advice about raising a dog. WINTER SOWING has the most enthusiastic group I have ever seen and really cheers me up in the winter! I just realized how many forums I haven't looked at, so when I have a few minutes to kill I try a new one.

well i'm here, i check everyday and haven't seen many posting either, i thought to myself, maybe these people don't like me and they don't want me to post. it is cold here still in northern canada, the buds are just coming out on the trees. i was going to have a get to gether for Al last year in our backyard, we have this massive apple tree that was his pride and joy, do you know that there wasn't one apply on that tree, it was like the tree knew Al wasn't there, so we didn't have the memorial service. i am still going through the house -- i guess spring cleaning, and donating things. i still am not sleeping well atr night and read till about 3 or 4 in the morning so i sleep until 3-4 in the afternoon, so my schedule is not there anymore. i think i might still be playing catchup, Al was an early riser and me being his caregiver, i think took alot out of me. my car broke down on may 23, our son's 25th birthday, so i ended up getting a new starter, good thing it was still under warranty, but it still almost cost 100.00. to top it off, when the tow truck took my car to the garage, and i phoned to see if it was ready, they couldn't find my car (lol-it's a neon i was hoping someone stole it, but no luck). i got my hair cut and coloured, too feel more human, and i am making myself put on makeup everyday. i have even started knitting again, but i am still so lost. enjoy the day, i'm going to tend to my pernnials that have been neglected for afew years. debbie

I often tell my husband about something interesting I read here and then explain the idea comes from my new imaginary friends.

Had I only known that I would be so hooked on checking in with what's going on here, I would have used the the name of my imaginary friend from my childhood as my screen name! Yes, I still remember it and wonder whatever happened to her. I guess I found her again when I found this site.

I love this site!! I get so many great ideas from you guys- whoever said 2 heads are better than one was right - only there are dozens on here.

Funny story - we had DH's co-workers over for dinner a few weeks ago and the next day at work one of the guys said his wife really liked how our house was decorated. He was told to ask for the name of our decorator. DH laughed and said that my wife gets all her ideas from some ladies on some website!! See, he even knows that it's not my ideas but yours!!

Just a moment ago DH says "you need to start thinking about closet and pantry designs." I told him I'll have to think about it and get back to him. His response was "Yea, because you won't want anything normal." HA! HA! He hates that I'm getting such a superb education on this forum. He can't rush me through a project now doing it his way. LOL He was much happier when I didn't know any better!!
