Oh do I know how painful issues like that can be. I went to the doctor to check it out and they ended up diagnosing me with Mortons neuroma, a painful inflamation of the nerve endings in the feet.
Many days I could barely walk. The last episode kept me out of working on the yard for a whole month.
When your feet hurt, everything is awful.
I feel bad for you, I hope you get relief soon.

Must be the gout season. Your the third person within one
week I heard having the gout. My friend and I went shopping last night and then dinner and she was saying her
husband has the gout in his ankle too and takes medication
daily for it also. Sorry your in such pain. Feel better soon!

Anne fix yourself an icepack. My DH has been suffering with fluid on both his knees for 3 years now. They can drain the fluid and put in cortizone. It helps alot, but the amount of time between flare ups was getting shorter.
Finally in March and on Tuesday he had knees operated on, they fixed a torn miniscus in both knees and scraped out the arthritis and did a little trimming.
He is in incredible pain. Because he's a cardiac patient and on comadin (sp?) he can't take most pain killers. The only thing he can take is hydrocodone. He's so afraid of the addiction factor. He uses them when he just can't stand it any longer.
The Dr is very happy with the progress of the first knee. DH really pushed the envelope over the weekend...he rode his motorcycle for the first time in almost a year. Knee was sore but we had so much fun. Dr said if you don't use it you will never know your limitations.

I hope you get some relief. I know DH got some with ice packs, 20 minutes on and 30 minutes off.

Oh, Anne, you have my sympathy! I think my last attack of gout was triggered by become dehydrated. It was horribly hot at work, with no windows to open, and they hadn't started up the AC yet. We were all dripping with sweat, and I ran out of water. (The tap water at work is undrinkable.) Could it be that you need to up your water intake?

I think what helped me get over that attack was drinking cherry juice and eating cherries from the freezer, drinking lots of water, and also taking the homeopathic remedy Nat Phos (a cell salt), dissolving four tabs in my mouth several times a day.

Hope this passes for you quickly.

I hope you feel better soon! I know my knees are killing me today. I broke down and used my perscription arthritis pill that kills my stomach this morning. Watch the red meats if you have gout.

My husband has it as well, Anne, ditto on the cherries (the darker the better) and water, water, water. Do you have any medicine to treat the attacks? Do you have any crutches? I'm so sorry Anne, I know how much that must hurt.

I feel so bad for you Anne. I'd never been around anyone with gout until Gary and I married. He has pretty bad attacks of it sometimes. Do you take anything for it? He has a prescription for Indocin which he will resort to when the pain and swelling get too bad. He doesn't like to take it during the day because it makes him 'drunk' but it usually shortens the attack considerably and brings relief within an hour or two.

Thanks. I love cherries and always have a bottle of "real" cherry juice on hand because I like the taste but the cherry treatment does not work for me. In season I eat more cherries than any one I know because they are my favourite fruit - I especially love tart cherries but will eat any kind. LOL

Susan, it could be because I am dehydrated. I am never thirsty so I don't drink much. Today I drank a litre and 1/2 of water LOL well almost that much. I am supposed to drink 2 litres of water when I take my prescription for this.

Tami, my diet isn't the cause of my hyperurecimia. I don't eat much meat and sometme will go a week without eating meat just like I did last week and this week. Some foods like mushrooms will bring on an attack but I have stayed away from them. Before I was diagnosed with this I had been eating 2 packages of fresh mushrooms a week in my salads or pasta. My doctor said I just produce too much uric acid. After testing my doctor said my level "was off the chart" The acid coming from my body caused a dry rash that crept down my thigh. One of the areas was the size of a silver dollar. There is a name for it but I can't remember it. Once I started on the medication the rash that I had for a couple of years disappeared. My sister has high uric acid levels also. She gets the pain in the big toe and I have it in my knees and right ankle.
I do take a daily dose of Alopurinol to lower the acid in my body. The acid crystals caused damage in my knee joints because I went for so long untreated.

I used my ice pack but the pain is still intense. I somehow have to get myself to bed. I always mean to bring one of my crutches down from the attic to use to get around but I keep forgetting to do it until I need it. I have been using a chair to lean on to help me hobble across the floor.

I am so glad I live alone so I can moan and groan and cry out in pain without anyone hearing me. I called my brother to see if he would pick me up some dinner because I hadn't eaten much in 2 days but his car was out of service. I had crackers. celery and light cream cheese for dinner. I brought everything in on a tray to the living room so I could keep my foot propped up.

Hopefully today will be a better day and I hope none of you ever have to experience the pain of gout.

I had no idea how painful gout was until I met an old boyfriend who had it. Ouch!

Take care of yourself, and when you feel better, buy some frozen dinners to keep in case of another attack. You shouldn't go without food. And keep drinking, like Susan said.

Anne, do you feel better today? I sure hope so.

Please, take yourself a bottle of water, and measure it, so you know how much is in there, and depending on what you should drink, empty it once or more daily.

If you just get in the habit of drinking a bottle of water a day, you will have less chances of getting dehydrated.

And you might try a few drops of lemon or lime juice, if you are allowed that, in the water. It helps re-hydrate you. Hope today is better.

Anne-Celery is suppose to lower the uric acid levels in your body.Maybe you need to eat more! Worth a try.Have you tried any of the supplements for gout? The red wine extract is also suppose to help.

LOL no need for a porta potty. My house isn't that big and the bathroom is only steps away down the hall from my living room.

The pain has lessened somewhat and today I am able to put some weight on my foot. Still can't walk without hobbling but at least I can put my foot on the floor. I am hoping for a much better day on Saturday so I can get out of the house.

I even managed to make myself dinner (lemon brown rice and broccoli) and I have been drinking my water. Dishes will have to wait until tomorrow to be washed.
