LOOKING for: Ruby Tuesday Chicken Pot Pie recipe

Any one have this recipe?

We ate it at Ruby Tuesday Resaurant. It is delicious. I am looking for the recipe. I search on the internet but I don't think I got the right recupie.

If you know it please send it.

What's special about it? There are lots of very good pot pie recipes that have been posted here....some with mushrooms, some with puff pastry, some with short crust soem with biscuit crust...
I would match a recipe from one of our good home cooks up against any one mass produced in the kitchen of a chain reatraunt any day.
I have never eaten at a Ruby Tuesday so I can't give any hints.
What was it like? Big chunks of chicken? lots of veggies? cream gravy or stock based? and what was the crust like?

Linda,
It had a puffed crust, no mushrooms, with a cream gravy. There seemed to be something about the cream gravy that had a different flavor. The veggies were carrots, celery,peas,and onion. With chicken, medium size.
I have eaten several versions of chicken pot pie and never tasted one like it. I love KFC's Chicken Pot Pie...smile. It was just that I had never eaten one with cream gravy.

I can't help you with the American Cafe recipe, but maybe this will help you out until you get the proper recipe. It's good! SUZIE'S CHICKEN POT PIE 2 Cups chicken, uncooked, cut in small pieces 1 Cup Broccoli, cut in small pieces 1/2 Cup sliced Carrots 1/2 Cup sliced Celery 1/2 Cup diced Onions 3 Tablespoons Butter 3 Tablespoons Flour 2 Cups Milk 1 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese 2 Chicken Boullion Cubes (or 2 teaspoons "Better Than Boullion") Your favorite pastry for top and bottom pie crust Directions Place bottom pie crust in 9" pie pan. Simmer chicken in water for 5 minutes, add vegetables and simmer 5 more minutes. Drain. In another saucepan, melt butter, add flour, whisk and cook for 5 minutes. Add milk and boullion and simmer until thick then add cheese and mix well. Add chicken and vegetables. Mix well and pour into pie crust. Top with second pie crust. Prick with fork or cut small hole in top crust to vent. Brush with beaten egg. Bake @ 400 degrees for 45-50 minutes til golden brown.

My Mom wasn't a great cook either - she didn't enjoy cooking. But she made perfect mashed potatoes and I loved it when she made french toast. When I got older she made pretty good white bean soup and veggie soup. My favorite meal was smoked pork chops, fried potatoes, and great northern beans all with ketchup. Mom's Mom is a great cook. She worked in restaurants and delis. She has lots of best recipes. Spaghetti and meatballs are my favorite. She served Thanksgiving Dinner with dressing in a casserole dish (we fought over the crusty edges), giblet gravy and rolled dumplings. She is known for her potato salad and cheese ball. Every Christmas she makes carrot cake, peanut butter balls and butter cookies rolled in pecans with a candied cherry in the center. For my birthday she always made my favorite German Chocolate cake. Dad's Mom's best recipe was Meatloaf and egg noodles in tomato gravy. She made very good cole slaw. She always had sweet tea and cream pies. I am lucky to have another grandmother to learn from. My husbands Mamaw taught me how to make cornbread in an iron skillet and peach cobbler. She also gave me the confidence to try cooking chuck roast, potatos and carrots. Her best recipe is her biscuits. Mom used to make popcorn for us before we owned a microwave and covered it in butter and salt. That was a best!

I know you've already had your special date, but wanted to share this recipe for Bolognese Sauce, published in O Magazine, February 2007 - "Learn to make this sauce, and find a man worth cooking it for, in that order. Make a meal that will leave him hungry, not for sex, but for you! This sauce will smell better than anything youÂve ever smelled before. Make it only once a year, and keep him hungry! Great for special occasions and wonderful in the fall when itÂs cool. This sauce takes a lot of time Â it should simmer for four to five hours Â but it does not require much skill or effort. Once the vegetables are chopped, all thatÂs left to do is add ingredients and stir. This gives you plenty of time to shower, tidy up your home, and do whatever else you need to do to prepare for your dinner guest. Ingredients: 1 medium onion 1 large or 2 small carrots 2 Â 3 stalks celery 1 ounce pancetta, very finely chopped 1 lb ground beef (not lean) 1 tsp salt Â¼ tsp freshly ground pepper Pinch allspice 1 cup whole milk 1 cup dry white wine 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes w/ juice 1 lb pasta, such as rigatoni Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, for grating Finely chop onion, carrot, and celery. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan or Dutch oven over low heat, cook pancetta until all fat is rendered and pancetta is just beginning to brown. Add chopped vegetables; raise heat to medium, and cook, stirring frequently, until onion is translucent and soft. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, Â¼ tsp (to start) salt, plus pepper and allspice. Cook until meat is brown. Add milk. When it begins to simmer, reduce heat to low and cook at a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally until milk has mostly boiled away, about 30 minutes. Add white wine and cook as with milk, until it has mostly boiled away. Add tomatoes and juice; bring to a simmer. Cover pot, reduce heat to low, and allow sauce to cook very gently at barest simmer, 2.5 to 3 hours. Season to taste with remaining salt. Just before sauce is done, bring a pot of water to boil, salt it generously and boil pasta according to package directions. Drain, mix with a third of sauce, the serve with remaining sauce on top with lots of grated Parmigiano cheese. Makes 4 cups sauce."

My BF was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer 3 1/2 yrs ago and after chemo, radiation, loss of part of his tongue, jaw replacement and throat replacement with muscle from his arm was told he would have to live with a PEG tube for the rest of his life. He refused and learned to down Ensure, aspirating a little each time but swallowing tests show it is not detrimental as he has learned to drink over a sink and he coughs out the last little bit. He has not been able to gain weight beyond 140 lbs (he looks like a stick man) even downing 16 bottles of Ensure a day and eventually adding whey protein powder until I met him. He likes to race in Enduro motorcycle competitions so is high energy. I am an RN and can't stand to see people using Ensure as a meal replacement, it is only meant to be a supplement and other than the vitamins and protein only contains oil and sugar with milk solids. I figured if he could down anything I could get him back to consuming vitamins, fat, etc. through natural foods and put some weight on him. The sugar in the Ensure has also taken a toll on what was beautiful white teeth. He had purchased a Vitamix 5200 (pricey but worth it) to mix another powdered sweet drink he found (can't remember the name) to put weight on. The vitamix will actually dessimate anything you place in it and is so fast it will heat the food so hot that you can't drink it. I have learned to blend the weirdest foods together to get the high calories and the only problem I've had is with the broths/juices/milk you have to add to get it to the very liquid consistency will sometimes dilute the flavors. I literally blend anything I eat for him and he is eating better than ever. I now taste everything (sometimes it sounds like it would be gross) and have been astounded at how flavorful meals can be. He has gained 10 lbs over the last 2 months since I add cheese, butter, use whole milk, and for shakes blend high fat nuts like Macadamia and coconut (he loves) and add to them. I have noticed that chicken and dumplings is his favorite because the base of the soup is all I need to use to thin it so it is full flavor. Also for some reason the italian dishes like spaghetti, lasagna, etc. even when thinned severely with beef broth keep the original taste. White sauces are best thinned with chicken broth and milk (both) and sweet and sour chicken is best thinned with apple juice. He is Jewish so when we made potato latke's I put the apple sauce and sour cream in and thinned with apple juice and milk and it tasted almost just like mine in a liquid version. One potato latke thinned equalled 64 ounces so thank goodness he can drink alot! Next time I may add a few potato flakes for extra calories. He has started blending sushi and thins with seafood broth found only at Central Market here. I've done steak with potato including sour cream, butter, bacon bits and thinned one time with milk and another with beef broth and added beef gravy...he loved it! Most of our "soups" come out restaurant quality:-)My next jump is to make steak with Au Jus and Demi Glace to try to get the flavor to come out better. I encourage you all not to be afraid to try different things together and remember that on a liquid diet you need to increase your calories significantly. His Oncologist said he can't believe I've been able to put weight on him but he's defied all of them from the start:-)

I've never eaten at a Ruby Tuesday's restaurant, but this chicken pot pie recipe is a family favorite here. I've used the filling for pot pie, shepherd's pie and also served it over rice.

Country Chicken Pot Pies

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup butter or margarine -- melted
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup half and half
4 cups cooked chicken -- chopped
2 cups frozen peas and carrots -- thawed
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Saute first 2 ingredients in butter in a skillet over medium heat until tender. Add flour; stir until smooth. Cook 1 minute stirring constantly. Add chicken broth and half and half; Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in chicken, peas and carrots, salt and pepper.

To prepare pastry mix flour and salt. Cut shortening into flour till the size of peas. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time and mix gently.

Divide basic Pastry into 8 equal portions. Roll 4 portions of pastry to 10 inch circle on a floured surface. Place in four 6 inch disposable pie pans. Divide chicken mixture over pastry in pans. Roll remaining 4 portions of circles over filling; fold edges under and flute. Cut slits in tops to allow steam to escape.

To Freeze; Cover tightly and freeze up to 1 month.

To Serve: Bake, uncovered at 400F for 1 hour or until crust is brown.

Make your favorite alfredo sauce and use it for the cream sauce. Then you'll have Ruby Tuesday's Chicken Pot Pie. The special ingredient is the parm. cheese. They also add broccoli.

If the secret ingredient is the parmesan, here is my regular pot pie recipe from our DD that we like very much.

SUZIE'S CHICKEN POT PIE

2 Cups chicken, uncooked, cut in small pieces
1 Cup Broccoli, cut in small pieces
1/2 Cup sliced Carrots
1/2 Cup sliced Celery
1/2 Cup diced Onions
3 Tablespoons Butter
3 Tablespoons Flour
2 Cups Milk
1 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
2 Chicken Boullion Cubes (or 2 teaspoons "Better Than Boullion")
Your favorite pastry for top and bottom pie crust

Directions

Ruby Tuesday gave me their ingredients for "Parmesan Cream Sauce". The ingredients that make it taste so good are: Sour Cream, Parmesan Cheese, Monterey Jack Cheese, Margarine and Garlic. The other ingredients are: Cream, Flour, Onion Lemon Juice and Red Pepper Sauce. They use this sauce in some of their other recipes.
