Very much a 20th century (20s-50s), with a lot of the form of the standard wooden "club chair with loose cushions" but THOSE ARMS! I've never seen any like it, and I can't figure out what function they would serve with that shape. The wide spots are too far back to be "writing arms" and drinks would be endangered by the sitter's elbows ... perhaps it was a custom order for someone who needed the support for an invalid? Or liked to rest with their elbows sprawled out?

There are all sorts on the market. You might check with a medical supply dept either at your local hospital or medical clinic. We had one in the church for awhile but don't know what brand. Maybe if a store will give you a referral number/name you can talk to the people who bought them. Also not sure if you would need city/county permits. My DD had to equip her house for her husband who had a stroke and what you are doing may get tax write offs___if you do it right. She put in handicap bars, new shower, and other things and got a big tax break. But everything was done with permits. and approval by either the council on aging or senior citizens organization--(cannot think of name).

Oak...about the same period as the other 2 pieces. I wouldn't save the old stuffing...but make sure whoever is redoing it re ties the springs and puts new webbing in top and bottom. What's in the back? Is tehr any evidence of that having been caned? And who's doing your work? I'm in Newton....always looking for a good upholster to work on old stuff. Great chair by the way!!
