Have You Had Fun Today?

I sure have. I started out this morning and went rummaging with Amber. We got a lot of good things we can use. I wasn't home but a couple of hours and I got a phone call from Amber asking me to go with her and her neighbor to a hot dog stand in a nearby town. They have tables and chairs outside to sit on. Since I had already eaten I didn't get anything. I did have a nice visit with the neighbor and her two sweet little ones. We took the dogs, Harley and Angel snoozed in their stroller and Lily and Izzi were on their short leashes. It was very nice. So I have had a fun day, have any of you? I hope you have.

I am at work too...BUT today is by birthday and my co-workers threw me a surprise birthday party, one of my coworkers made cinnamon rolls for everyone for breakfast then when I got back from lunch my cubicle was filled and I mean filled with balloons and streamers. They used saran wrap and wrapped the enterance of my cubicle closed and filled my cubicle full of balloons.

Every life stage has a look that is authentic for each person. It is just silly for a 60yr old grandma to want perky boobs like her teenage grand daughter. Some people really resist progressing to the next stage of life but the body does anyway. I just wish we gain the wisdom to accept our aging bodies. That being said, sometimes people look older or disproportionate in some way that is not suitable to their life. I had a young niece who was slim and athletic but had 38G breasts. Her life had major impact with dealing with those breasts... Or beasts as she would call them. Boy could not see past her boobs neither some of her girls. She could not shop and wear normal clothes. She had to use dressing pads under her breasts to avoid rashes. Breast reduction was medically necessary for her. Another friend decided to do a tummy tuck. She had an emergency c- section with her first child and the cut muscles never recovered. She found it hard to find professional clothes that worked especially as she had a narrower waist and skinny butt. Tummy tuck really changed her life.

I had cabbage/kraut/mushroom filled crepes that had been breaded and fried for lunch (with sour cream...mmmm!). And for dinner, I made "rolled pancakes"...fried kielbasa and real smoked bacon on the side. I got the kind that has the rind on it, which gets all crunchy and good, Les Oreilles du Christ, for those French Canadians out there LOL. My mom raised us on "French Pancakes" - thicker than a crepe but not fluffy like an American pancake. What I make is a crepe recipe. The flavour is the same (and I cook them on BOTH sides, with one side being golden brown thank you), they are just thinner. If DH makes pancakes, it is buttermilk fluffy things. If I make them, it is crepes. Since I roll them for DD, the name "rolled pancakes" was born! I am no longer Catholic/Christian, but something about having pancakes for dinner on Shrove Tuesday is like a comfort thing. I like food traditions, even if they aren't my own ;)

Thank you for your kind words, igloochic. I love rich tones, fabrics and antiques, as well--your plans for your home sound just fabulous; the colors, materials and textures are all rich. Your master bath is the original color scheme I had planned, but as you know--homes tend to have a mind of their own and I wound up with pale blues and greens and travertine in our masterbath, with the richer browns in our bedroom, DH's study and lighter browns in my dressing room. I am visualizing what you've described and it will be gorgeous! I have in my hand a sample of the EK Bronze--EK is Ellen Kennon--an interior designer that makes a line of specialty full spectrum paints, which use many different colors as opposed to just three. Some people can't tell the difference in full spectrum paints and regular paint; many others notice it right away--to me, they look richer and change with the lighting conditions. I used her paints in my new home when we built two and a half years ago--many others here on this forum have used her paints in their homes as well; others make full spectrum paints, too. EK paints have to be ordered through Ellen Kennon's business and she sends the forumla to a local ICI paint dealer. I actually sent Ellen a copy of my house plans, hardcover books and a pair of silk bronze evening slacks--that's what she used to try to make up the bronze color I wanted--isn't that service? www.ellenkennon.com I'm thinking the EK Bronze is probably too light for what you're describing, but I will be happy to send you either a sample of the paint or a card painted with it, if you will email me through Gardenweb. The reason I went with a lighter color she made (a friend--interior designer that helps me with my window treatments--said it looked like the color of Cognac--thus the name!)was the Bronze was too strong for the large space. I still might use it in a small "away" room I'm working on upstairs. EK Mocha is a very rich brown that I used in my DH's study--I don't know if you'd be interested in this. Adobe is a little lighter, but has more bronze tones than the Mocha; Adobe is in our master bedroom. YES! Several.We got about 2.5 inches of precip. Totally crazy weather today. Tstorms and tornado touch down just a few miles away, destroyed a couple buildings, sister flew in from Wa,DB and other DS went to get her (2 hr trip) police had road to airport shut down in that city due to flooded streets. More storms and wind, lost power. What a day.

Kframe and firemanswife--TGIF. That's the one thing I miss about working. The joy of Friday's at 5:00. :-)

Harry and I went to Barnes and Noble this afternoon. They were having a great book sale so between us we got 9 books. I got two that weren't on sale--"The Help" and "Little Bee". I've been wanting to read them both. We had a lot of gift cards. Used them all. Should keep us out of trouble for a while.

After that we went to Publix. Not so fun, but done for another week anyway. Dinner tonight is an Italian sub I picked up in the deli.

It was hot, hot, hot today. 90 degrees right now on my thermometer.

I've worked non-stop today, and Friday means nothing to me because I work from home.

I just took a "break" to empty and reload the dishwasher, and now I'm starting a weekend project for a Chicago client. *sigh*

well it started out ok,but not 5 minutes from the house "hot" light came on and it ws straight to the car place...it was a thermastat $40, but the labor??? ouch!

we had a coupon for deli with mile hi corned beef sandwiches for dinner and tomorrow's lunch (they're that big) so it ended well...

I had a rough day as I have a bad cold! I went in to work for a couple of hours as there were some things that had to happen today that I had to farm out to other people. After that I came home and have been resting all day - I think I am feeling a bit better tonite, so that's a good thing.
Haven't had a head cold in years, hope it's gone as quick as it came.

Yep. Walked on the beach. Did a long drive down the coast and visited an area I haven't been to in over 20 years. On the way back to my base I stopped at one of my favorite taverns and found out my friend is still the owner. The sale fell through so for now they decided to stay. We had a nice visit and a local brought in some BBQ to share. Got caught up on all the local 911.

Now I'm showered and surfing the net from my bed at my motel. Gonna log off soon and read awhile. Meeting Carol tomorrow for lunch. :-)

Not fun, but pleasant enough. Left dialysis at ten am, the sun was out. Puttered in the garden all afternoon. It's now 5:20 in the afternoon, time to make some dinner. DH wants chicken, I'd settle for some leftover scalloped potatoes.

Went on a garden tour. Everyone's garden was just beautiful. Went out to lunch with my garden tour friends and then went shopping to buy some things to spruce up my garden.

Not exactly fun. I've cleaned possum cages, fixed a cage so it wouldn't get rain in the nest box, turned out the horses, put out the baby chickens, and cleaned house. It has been good in that I've been able to stay home all day.

Well, yesterday I worked 8 hours of overtime. Busy day. They needed someone today too but there was no way I was going in again.

Lauren and I went to Sears this afternoon. We went clothes shopping. I took my Land's End stuff I bought on-line back and bought another cheaper, better looking swimsuit. It was normally $88 and I got it 50% off. It's cute for a big women's sized suit, one piece girrafe print on top and bottom is brown. I love the way it feels too, silky and slimming at the waist.

Lauren found two bras that fit her right. Poor kid, she asked me again about breast reduction surgery. Every time we go bra shopping she brings it up. All the cute bras are for smaller chested women.

Now I need to go to Wal-Mart or K-mart and pick up a couple pair of pants for my trip and for Alex's graduation. I also need some shoes, only ones I own now are tennis shoes. I have a pair of dress shoes somewhere but I can't find them and the last time I wore them they killed my feet. I want something comfortable and something I can wear after his graduation. I looked in Sears but didn't find anything. Everything scraped the back of my heal.

I'm probably the only woman who hates shopping for clothes but I really do hate it.

No Kathy,it must be a kathi thing.I hate clothes and shoe shopping.Havn't been to a mall in years.

Myself i went to lowes to go flower shopping today.Had to spend my mothers day money.You can see what i bought if you go to the gallery at cottage gardens.That and yard,and garage sales are the only kind of shopping i like to do.

Yup...DH and I went with his DD to help her shop for a car.
He for advice and bargaining skill, and me for keeping DGD occupied while they concentrated on car purchase.

Went to Cracker Barrel for lunch. BTW, they now have a frequent diner card called "Front Porch", which gives out rewards(we got $5 off lunch tab. Check website for details.

So, DGD and I had a great day keeping ourselves occupied playing games, and DD drove her new car home.
