Are you allowed to discuss the contents of the test so some of us can "cram". I'm not asking for "answers" to the test questions just wanting to know what type of test they give. Was it a lot of US history questions? Basic math? Puzzles?

Here is a link for the practice test. The real test was just like this one, but with different questions. There was 10 of us taking the test and I know at least the two by me had tests with different questions. You just have to make sure you read the questions correctly. When I took the practice test and then graded it, I noticed that the questions I missed were ones that I did not read good enough.

We had a fellow come to the door the other night and said he was working for the Census, had the official badge etc. He told us, they were just verifying the physical addresses...I thought this guy was a real jerk..1st my DH asked him to come in and he said, they weren't allowed but in the same breath followed my DH in and sat down....We told him what he needed to know and helped him with a couple of other addresses and he punched them in his "toy"....He proceeded to tell us, we wouldn't believe how much they are paying him to do this job???And he gets paid hourly not by "house or head count"...He told us next year we'd be getting the official census paper work in the mail....The funny thing, he only put in our physical address but we get all our mail through a box at the PO...There's going to be more work at the PO making sure the people get their mail and probably a lot of people that won't be counted.....
I think, what this fellow was doing would be a neat job if you liked to walk and talk to people....

Several of my friends have told me the same thing all they wanted was to verify the physical address. Also, most thought the people were scary. Isn't Acorn in charge of the census?

I was hired and we worked for about 4 weeks including 1 week of training. We have already finished canvasing our area.

Easy work and I wish it had lasted longer :(

They were in my condo area, the other day, leaving a printout on everyone's door.
It was making a statement re: census takers and confidentiality, and how long the confidential information be would be kept confidential. Meaning many years.
It was printed BOTH in English and Spanish!

Fellow came last week. He gave me a printout, asked if it was a single residence or more than one family home and said he just had to take a GPS reading for our house.
Seemed nice to me.

The United States National Census Records are not released for 72 years after the Census year. The next Census to be released will be the 1940 Census, which will be released in 2012.

I've worked for the census 3 times. The first time was in 1970. Out of all that took the test with me there were two perfect scores, mine and my Dad's. I thought that was pretty cool. I don't even remember taking tests the other two times, but I guess I did. The last time I worked for them was in 2000 and I went to verify that the homes that had been reported as vacant were actually vacant.

I had done the pratice test and it was hard. I got a passing score, but the job seemed like too much work. Here everyone is spread out and that would be a lot of driving. Plus I would probably get lost.

Our household was tagged this year for the The American Community Survey. Lots of personal nobody's business questions. I threw it out. Then they sent another and started the annoying phone calls. Finally I answered the phone and asked the caller what her name was and where she lived. She replied. "I'm sworn to secrecy". I said "so am I" and hung up. They called a few more times. Let the answering machine pick up. I expected the home visits but haven't gotten them. Actually I was looking forward to them. Planned to take pictures and video and tell them to get off my property.

When the real census comes around they will be told how many people live here. Period. It is no ones business if I can wash and dress myself and what time I leave for work. Yes those were actual questions on the ACS.
