Best dining room set under 10K
Comments (11)'Cottage Industry' is indicative of small wood-working shops that are passionate about their work and have a lot of pride in workmanship of their products. Many of the best cabinetmakers will go to craftsman shows, such as the Designer Craftsman Show in Valley Forge, PA held every year. (link to the promoter's website, below) I'm not familiar with "Robert Bergelin" but went to their website to try to get an idea of what they sell, but I can't make a determination of their workmanship from what they show there. Everyone claims to be "handcrafted by artisans" (As they unload their container from China!) but the real key is for you as the consumer to get educated on what makes a quality piece and then examine the item before you buy. When I get some time, I'll post a list of things to look for when buying furniture (going to be a long post!) The rules for business owners are extremely strict here, and whereas consumers can make specific recommendations, those of us in the trade cannot do that or risk being banned from the list. Sorry! Here is a link that might be useful: Designer Craftsman Show...See MorePainting kids' rooms for staging? Or leave as kids's rooms?
Comments (12)I'm late to the conversation, but I'm glad you are leaving the room the colors it is. I went through this with my dd two years ago. She was almost six and had picked out the bedding, curtains, and pink wall color herself. She was really upset that her room was to be changed. It wasn't worth stressing her out any more than a move already does. At the stager's suggestion, I took down the pink curtains and replaced them with white. I switched out the bedding for a more nuetral color that went with the garden theme of the room. Dd's stuff (with her permission) that wasn't used for staging went into a box for the new house. When we walked through the house with the new owner, she complimented the room. It was the only room in the house that she complimented. IMO, it helped sell the house. I think if your rooms look magazine worthy, then leaving them as is, is fine. If they are just a hodge podge and a mix of stuff, it is better to repaint or stage so that it looks more appealing. I have seen some kid's rooms that made me cringe because everything clashed or looked like it had been thrown together with no thought of what worked....See MoreDining chair question for a farmhouse style dining room
Comments (42)Beautiful room! I love the combination seating you have but if you decide to not use the bench for some reason then I would suggest 2 more black Windsor side chairs and just use the parsons at the head and foot of the table. I have white upholstered chairs at the head and foot of my RH salvaged pine trestle table and wood side chairs with slips only on the seats. I love this look - the linen slips are a nice, soft contrast to the rustic table. I was also considering black Windsor side chairs for my table but wasn't sure and then found my chairs on sale at Shabby Chic. I fell in love with them because they're so pretty but DH is not a fan due to comfort. He would have preferred the Windsor chairs. Looking at your photos, I can see they would have looked great! Can you share where you found your sign and clock hanging on the walls? I need to find some interesting wall decor!...See MoreBest way to paint and lacquer dining room chairs!
