Cynthia, thanks for your post about Darrell, but if you look on perhaps this page near the bottom, and pages 2 and 3 you'll find that there are three other threads already posted about Darrell's passing. I think all three of those threads were initiated by folks who live in the Tulsa, OK area where he lived and some of them knew Darrell well, as did I as you'll see from my posts in all of them. Again, thanks for your post in case others hadn't seen the other three threads. But it's mostly older SSE members such as myself who knew him, although others knew him from several tomato varieties that he introduced. Carolyn

Well another weekend (and a holiday) passed without a phone call. Then I received a text message today from bm saying "I finally have the day off work. Tell ______, _________, and __________ I love and miss them so very much and to call me today." I wanted to vomit! She loves and misses them, yet she goes months without calling them? Her job is not open past 7pm.....so there is no excuse for not calling at night any day. And it was irritating that she can not call them. Instead she wants us to pay for the call??? Our cell has free long distance on the weekends and our home phone has no long distance. So that means we would have to use our cell minutes! So I sent her a text saying that she could call the home phone anytime today, the kids will be home all day. No call yet-that was 5 hours ago.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and comments. Katlan, my mother lost a son (my brother) when he was nine. I heard Mom say many times that there is no hurt deeper than that of the loss of your child. She was widowed at age 47 and years later said that loosing Dad was very difficult, but up till her passing at age 92 she still said that the loss of little John was the most difficult time in her life. Would that no Mother or Father have to endure that kind of loss. My daughter was 45, just 4 years younger than my Dad when he passed, but she was still my baby. Our children no matter the age are our babies.
