Looks OK... "cut around" the black spot??? This will depend on your layout
and where the pieces line up on the slab when the templates are laid out,
or they run a visualization on their computer....

If I was driving 300 miles to see a slab, I'd want to have that other intel in my
back pocket so I would KNOW if that slab was going to be THE one....

I will have 2 straight runs. 1 about 10' with sink almost centre. The second will be the island 7'x 32" with 30" cooktop about a third of the way.

I've only seen photos of Bianco Romano Slabs on the internet and don't know what to expect as far as colour variation. For instance, those peachy round patches in the above photo, would they look like flat blobs that stand out, or would they be less noticeable when viewed on a flat horizontal surface?

Oh, and opposed to being 'The' one, it may be a case of being 'The Only' one because BR is turning out to be very elusive! :)

I didn't realize bianco romano was so hard to get. It's certainly one of my favorites granites.

It may not be hard to get in some areas Karena, but the fabricators in my home area will only work with 3CM, and many of the yards in Toronto have mostly 2CM slabs,even then I found only 2 that even stocked the 2CM BR.

I had been anxiously waiting for an Ottawa yard to get in a container from his source in Chicago and checked back this past week thinking I'd be able to go and pick from a fresh batch. Unfortunately he said that the BR slabs were not good this time out so he didn't buy any. Other places I called said they hadn't had BR in for quite some time. I feel lucky that I have at least this "1" to look at.

Katienic - I think it is lovely, but I'm not an expert. If you love it, go for it! Which yard did you check out in Ottawa? I'm in Ottawa, but still a couple of months away from choosing a countertop, so I haven't really started thinking of where to look if we consider stone.

Looks great! I have Bianco Romano in my kitchen. It's funny, it was one of the least expensive granites of my final selections, so I assume that one of the reasons for that is that is more widely available where I live (outside Philadelphia). Anyway, I love mine and your slab looks beautiful!

sochi, the fabricator I'm dealing with is in Kingston. They have been the most helpful of any I've talked with. They are almost a 2 hour drive from my home and I'm glad they will come this far to install.

They only fabricate 3CM and gave me the name of 2 places in Ottawa to check for 3CM stone. Masterpiece in Vars, and, CentreStone on Hawthorne Rd in Ottawa. Mo at Masterpiece has been very helpful. I seem to catch Mike at Centrestone at a very busy time each time I call and I haven't heard back from him. If I end up making the trip to Ottawa I'll likely check out both places and will let you know here how it goes.

I do wish I had other slabs to compare the one in the photo to, however I'm sure I'll have a more positive feeling once I see it in person.

I bought my granite at MountainGranite in Ottawa - only seemed to have 3 cm slabs....their website doesn't show the extent of their inventory, so I'd give them a shout....?

If you love bianco romano, you might want to take a look at blanco lebon. I just saw this granite at Lowe's today. It's very beautiful and similar to bianco romano except the garnets are more purplish instead of redish. It also comes from Brazil.

My local Lowe's carries by a manufacturer called SenSa. You may be able to find a dealer in Canada.

Jen, its good to hear from someone who already has the BR and can vouch that it is a nice slab. It is hard not knowing what would be considered a good slab when there is none for me to compare it to.

Chloe_s_mom. Thanks for another place to check out in Ottawa. Do you happen to know whether they are a supplier or retailer? I will need to find a supplier yard who will then get it to the fabricator closer to where I live.

Now there is only one hitch in the works. My husband thinks he likes the look of the Kashmir White better (based on photos only), so that means I head to Toronto on Monday to see the BR, and then Tuesday it will be off the other direction another 3 hours to Ottawa to view the KW in person. I showed him the Kashmir White photo when I believed I would never find a Bianco Romano ;)

No clue whether Mountain Granite would also supply to a fabricator - sorry.

Just to muddy the water more, have you also looked at Delicatus?

I also saw a sample of something called Lennon, which is in the same colour family, in my mind.
