Thank you repair guy. I'll try to answer your questions the best I can, considering I know very little about pool equipment. I don't know the wire size to the pump. How might I figure that out? I have a call into my pool service to find out if they direct wired the pump to the breaker or put it on a relay. I watched it being installed and nothing was wired to the circut breaker. Repair guy,so I know what I'm talking about when the pool service calls back....will you please explain to me how a relay will cause issues, and how those issues can be resolved. I believe that the Intelliflo is a great product...however I feel as if I am behind the 8 ball since I know zilch about pool equipment, especially when it comes to dealing with my pool service. This purchase was a leap of faith for us.

Like you I do not want to hear how the watch is made when I ask what time it is but due to the incredible amount of questions on IntelliFlo and the national concern on energy costs I am offering the following information. The Pump Affinity Law is not my law or PentairÂs Law it is physics and hydraulics laws. It is what happens to pumps, water and power when pumps operate at different speeds Pump Affinity Law Speed1 = Flow1 Speed2 Flow2 (Flow is ½ than high speed) Speed1= (Pressure1)2 (Pressure is squared 2x2x2) Speed2 (Pressure2)2 (Pressure is squared 2x2x2) Speed1= (Power1)3 (Power consumed is cubed 2x2x2x2) Speed2 (Power2)3 (Power consumed is cubed 2x2x2x2) Now because of my inability to understand math in any version I have translated the formulas above to something I can understand: LIGHT BULBS !! EXAMPLE  At 3450 RPMÂs you have a flow of 66 GPM. You use 2,000 watts at this RPM (20 100 watt light bulbs) If the RPM speed is reduced in half to 1725 RPMÂs, per the formula above, the flow is ½ (33 GPMÂs). But your power consumes is 1/8th at high speed (cubed) . Also please note my just reducing the RPMÂs from 3,450 by just 450 RPMÂs the energy consumes is almost cut in half. raygundan- I have a 2 speed with Paramount floor system and I run the pump at low speed (1725rpm) popping the heads and delivering heated and chlorinated water to pool floor during the filter cycle. For the cleaning cycle, I switch to high speed (3600 rpm) for 1 hour and 40 minutes to get the higher velocities from each head in each zone to adequately clean the sand and leaves from the floor. Each floor system manufacturer will provide a minimum time for the head to cycle one complete revolution. With Paramount PV3 this time is 1 hour 40 minutes. With other manufacturers this time will likely vary. In my case running 1 hour 40 minutes will provide complete revolution of each head in each zone. Each zone cycles about every 45 seconds and then it is just a matter of adjusting the velocity of the nozzles to make sure there is enough to push the debris to the next zone or to the main drain....this is trial and error to find the right setting and you will know when you need to increase the velocity (flow) by visually inspecting the pool floor for debris. Also worth noting......in the summer, there is very little debris in our 35K gallon pool so I only run in high speed every other day and the pool floor still remains clean. I even cut the high speed time down to about 45 minutes during the summer to save further energy. In the fall and winter, I run the full 1 hr. 40 minutes every day to take care of the leaves and other debris that get into the pool during these seasons. Hope this helps!

if im correct, make sure you do not use the VS-SVRS if you have infloor cleaning. the fluctuation in pressure as the valve rotates will cause the pump to shut off. I've heard certain infloor systems can work with it, and other dont. just a little heads up.
