What do you think this means?

My DSis and DBIL are invited to a ritzy wedding. The invitation says dress is "barefoot chic". What the heck does that mean? I googled it but what comes up mainly refers to travel, not dress.

Has anyone any idea what one would wear to it?

The wedding is for the daughter of former neighbors. The woman started her own company literally at her kitchen table. Business went through the roof and she's made a mint and expanded to a large office/warehouse in Clearwater. The reception is at a private country club on Clearwater beach.

Neither of us had heard the term before, so if anybody knows what sort of dress is appropriate, please help!!!

Oh Clearwater. Loved that place! First time I ever in my life had New England clam chowder.

I have seen weddings on the beach, where people are dressed up but barefoot. Eh?????

One I witnessed was perfectly timed at sunset. Fantastic!

Where is the ceremony going to be held?

If its actually on the beach, wear sandals or shoes that can be slipped off and placed in the 'shoe garage' that I've seen at beach weddings.

I'd wear a pretty sundress, my spouse would wear a nice pair of khakis with a Tommy Bahama type shirt for barefoot chic.

I have used compost from my municipality in veg and ornamental gardens without anything I would consider a problem, but that says nothing of what your experience with compost from a different municipality will be. Weeds in compost are pretty common with open air piles. Seeds are going to blow in unless it is kept covered or those plastic barrel type composters are used. In most cases I would not rely 100% on the compost for your plant's nutrient needs. The material going in to a typical municipal pile is dry grass, leaves and wood shavings. None of this is N rich.

To maximize success with Google, or any search engine for that matter, an analytical mind-set must prevail. A lot of time can be lost stumbling through unnecessary keywords and searches. Something along a flow chart mentality is needed. There is a lot more to superior searching than keywords. Thinking out your goal is in my opinion number one. The best I have ever seen is my late good friend and mentor, Dreamweaver. She could find the proverbial needle in a haystack. DA

Sounds exactly as described above.....fancy and fun beachside, grass lawn reception. Fancy sundresses or long dresses - but NO high heels to dig into the sand or grass. I suppose strappy flat sandles would work, but would get sandy either way. Probably no official dance floor - so plan to dance in barefeet! Most important: go and have fun!!!

This is what I'd wear. A gentleman could wear linen trousers and shirt. I wouldn't wear white or black.

That dress is amazing! I've never seen anything that versatile before. I've never been in Victoria's Secret and didn't know they sold real clothing.

breenthumb, sadly, they don't carry clothing in the stores. You must order on line.

The wedding is in a church and the reception at a country club at the very northern end of the beach--the name escapes me but it's like Carilou or something close to that. The reception is inside the club but will probably spill out onto the patios by the beach.

LOL Barb--I bet they all are wondering. I think a sun dress with a short-sleeved bolero type jacket or sweater (for church) would work with some strappy sandals with a small heel. It will probably be pretty hot, if we ever stop raining, that is.

Yes msmarion, she has a really cute white sun dress with an emerald jacket she was going to wear but now white is out. My sister said she couldn't wear that because white was for virgins. I told her if that was the case, wedding dresses would all be pastels. But I've been to many weddings where lots of people wore black.

I love the beach, too, Glenda. DH's son was married in November, 2006 on the beach with the most beautiful sunset you've ever seen. He was 44 at the time and had never married. He'd been waiting for his HS sweetheart and when she became available he was ecstatic. I've never seen a happier groom. He actually jumped in the air after the "I do's". Life was good for him, at last. Less than a year later, he died in his sleep. Was a such a bad time for us, I couldn't even talk about it, but we're mellowing a little.
