Comments (2)Oh, boy, there are better experts than I but being on Pacific Time and up late, I'll take a crack at it. An F1 is a "first filial" outcrossed generation of 2 inbred breeding lines. Without going into details why it is so, their characteristics will tend to be that they are relatively vigorous and productive, and rather uniform (because they were bred from 2 highly inbred lines). Their vigor is referred to as "hybrid vigor" or "heterosis"; it is a side-effect of having a lot of a lot of different alleles ("heterozygosity"). It is painstaking to produce them, especially in the case of tomatoes, and this work is mostly done in China. Even so, they are significantly more expensive than other seeds, as I noticed while shopping for tomato seeds online a few minutes ago. F2s are the next generation. They are NOT controlled crosses, unlike the F1s, but are simply allowed to self-pollinate (as tomatoes tend to do). Compared to F1s, they will tend to be less uniform, and will tend to have a lot of double-alleles ("homozygous"), which defeats the purpose of the F1 hybridization and sabotages the "hybrid vigor". This is part of the reason that breeders raise F1's: they can protect their seeds because the cross has to be remade and remade and remade from the parent lines, which they do not distribute. F2s are cheaper. So, in summary: F1s more vigorous, productive, expensive F2s less vigorous, less productive, less expensive....See MoreMonroe Bisque and Powell Buff - The difference?
Comments (4)Analyzing the online color samples this is what I found. Powell Buff: Red: 223 Green: 205 Blue: 168 Hue: 40 Saturation: 25 Brightness: 87 Monroe Bisque: Red: 219 Green: 203 Blue: 171 Hue: 40 Saturation: 22 Brightness 86 They're they same hue but powell buff is a little more saturated and brighter. The differences are so slight you could probably paint one wall one color and the adjacent wall the other and really have to look hard to see the difference. Below is an animation going from PB Walls MB Trim to MB Walls and PB Trim. I forget which one is which....See Morelowspark
